Default Celtic music

Hello all!
Just wondering...the entertainment in the squares and the various venues has been great!
We love rock and 50's and 60's music...but our true love is Celtic music.
In upstate NY there are several pubs where we can get our "fix" whenever we want it.
Are there any groups that play in the squares or at the Savanna Center that fit the bill for us?...or are there any local pubs that play Celtic music?
We closed on our home in Duval in November and will finally get a chance to spend a couple of weeks there in January. Then back to work. We don't want to wish our life away...but...we want to be there for longer than a couple of weeks!!
Thanks,
Phil and Pat

I don't know of any Irish Bars in the immediate TV area.
There are several large and active Irish clubs in TV, also a few Irish music clubs. Those folks could probably tell you where the Irish Pubs and entertainment are located. They can be located in the Recreation News section of the Thursday Daily Sun or in the various club listings. The Claddagh Irish American Club contact #s are Pat Ross 430-1812 and Phyllis Stranka 391-1375

I'am not in the Villages yet close on 1/5/10 and will be moving in on that date. I have played in Irish Bagpipe bands for 45 yrs.32 yrs. NYPD Ret. Capt. and very proud of my heritage. I'am also looking for some first rate mostly triditional Irish showbands like the kind featured in the Irish Alps (Durham). Was taking Irish set dancing lessons (set not step) more fun than a barrel of monkeys. The closest thing i have found to that in TV is Cheily dancing lessons in TV. There is even a Village pipe band for me to play in- Sounds of Scotland.

Default Celtic listening

Marcille Wallis sells her music in the town sq. during special events.
She plays a hammer dulcimer that might fit into your desire.
www.ceolbinn.com
You might inquire as to her schedule if she plays locally.
There may also be a celtic group here in TV.
Hope this helps.

Not really Celtic but you might want to check out Tomaura (www.tomaura.com) who appear at some of the country clubs. She's from Dublin, he's from NY. Lively show, especially if there are a lot of Irish in the crowd.

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Be a gentleman, remove your hat/cap when entering a building and dining out!

Default irish dancing, irish music

We too love Irish music and also English/Irish pubs. There is O'Keefe's in Tavares, which we have visited. I am not sure if they have music, but it's the genuine article in terms of ambiance. The owner's name is O'Keefe and he has definitely gotten it right. There's are two other Irish places in Ocala, on the square. One is the Tin Cup and it's open from 4 on. The other is O'Malley's Alley and it's open for lunch (as is O'Keefe's). They have music but I don't think it's Irish -- more like top 40. But both of them really do have the ambiance. The buildings in the square in Ocala are historic as well, so the pubs have an older feel to them. If you're interested in celeigh dancing you should google folkdancing in Central Florida. There are groups that meet, but not in the villages. I was a professional folk dancer (long ago) and love Balkan folkdances (Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, etc) but there's nothing like that anywhere. Guess I should start a class!
