We want a 2 bedroom not 3

The cabot has a bigger living room smaller kitchen then its similar colony sister model, we like the larger living room idea.

I don't like you take what's finished and ready with no advance choice of a lot.

On the Sanddollar the home itself is larger and so is the property, you can choose a lot and select some options.
Down side is the taxes and bond are higher not sure how much yet and of course it's +15K or so more.

Anyone shed some light on this comparison.

The biggest difference between the two is, of course, the garage. If garage space is of any concern to you you will definitely want to go with the Sanddollar. For a full time resident I would think the Cabot Cove would just be too restricted for storage and definitely not doable for a couple with two cars. We have a Cabot Cove that we bought in 2007 and loved it for a part time residence and as a rental but when we were ready to move down full time we considered the Sand Dollar for a little while. I really liked the floor plan a lot with the laundry room, pantry, master closet, garage and kitchen. Then we decided we wanted a block and stucco so we went with the Begonia but the Sand Dollar is definitely my favorite cottage home!

To address at least part of your post, Jimbo:

We have a Cabot Cove patio villa. We liked that version (versus the more prevalent Colony floor plan) for several reasons:

- we didn't personally feel the need for having an eat-in kitchen area as well as a formal dining room that you'll find in the Colony

- both bedrooms in the Cabot Cove are a bit larger as are the closets

- the garage is somewhat larger as well

We're snowflakes at present so the patio villa works perfectly for us. If you can find one with the "volume ceilings" (vaulted ceilings), it will give the entire house a more open feeling.

As with everything else, it's all a matter of personal preference!

In The Villages its all about lifestyle and you will find with most people the house is secondary. Location is important and that depends on what you are going to spend "time" doing. For example, lots of golf----close to the golf courses makes sense. If you like shopping and dancing then close to the town square. I think you can see my point.
