Another 1K day.
Used to live 10 minutes away but still enjoy going back...just not as often.
Tolls and gas pretty much negate any savings.
Its not just the savings for us, its the quality of the products. Also like filling up with gas there. The gas points are great!

Default Costco

I was in the little Costco in Altamont springs last week and I happened to talk to a manager, he said that people are flooding them with requests for a Costco near the Villages and they are now looking at two locations. The formula they need is an area of 25 square miles with a population of 250 thousand and 50% of that population with a household income of 60 thousand or more. He indicated they were almost there.

We spoke to management about a Costco in The Village area and they said nothing is planned for now. They have to look at the impact a new store would have on the ones already build. They did say keep sending requests.
Try the one in South Orlando, on Waterbridge Blvd., to me it has a lot more that the Costco In Altamonte.

But the question is, how would Gary Morse know this? No one knows what the next two years will be like economically, so what does Gary Morse know that even Costco doesn't know at this particular time?
If Morse is talking to COSCO I would assume he is having discussions several levels above anybody we can talk to...if it's Village property the incentives are determined by the Family.

That would require a population density of 10,000 per square mile. Since The Villages is 32 square miles, we need 320,000 residents. Sounds like there is something wrong with the criteria that you were quoted.

Wouldn't they be looking at the year around population and not the seasonal population?

Might the locations under consideration be anywere between say Mt. Dora and Ocala? And might the population of communities surrounding the Villages make up for any population not contained within the boundaries of the Villages?

It seems to me, I once heard the population of The Villages exceeded the combined population of Ocala and Leesburg. If that is true, and you add in the rest of the little rural small towns around here, it may still not provide a population necessary to meet the requirements. Although, I am not sure if this is accurate or not.

a lot of retailers do not understand the villages. our demographic is not what most want, the population density is not high enough, the average income in the greater villages area (include the rest of sumter, lake, and marion counties) is not high enough, and that is why they are not interested in locating here. i do not understand why the villages development organization does not invite and pay for a visit from the search committees of retailers whose presence would enhance the villages. i understand that it was a big coup to get target here, and a lot of arm-twisting went into having a michael's located here. maybe these tactics have been tried and were unsuccessful.

We get to the Costco in less than an hour and I don't think it is dirty or smelly. We go about every 4 to 6 weeks. On the way you can stop at a làrger Tues morning and a home goods.
