As all have said....if any animal was injured in the midst of these tales, I'm truly sorry. Don't want any animals injured or killed.

I am aware of three individuals, living in TV that post on social media that appear "obsessed" by this whole coyote thing. I believe that once they went to whomever they went to and tried unsuccessfully to make the coyote population disappear; they made it their mission in life to prove to the world that coyotes need to be gone.

We all know that there ARE coyotes. Those of us with pets KNOW that we must take precautions.......but IF any of these accounts are false....shame on anyone who would do this.

I'm not enjoying my walks with my pup cause I'm constantly on the watch for any predator. Other folks have stated that they are very frightened to even venture outside with their dogs.

Obviously, the poster here with the fluffy white "Siamese" cat who seems to disappear when questioned is another one of the coyote obsessed villagers. I for one, do not want to be told anything but the truth when it comes to reporting an animals death....especially if it didn't happen.

Cmon OP give us details please.

Great point!!! I would have titled the thread "I can't believe this happened again" or something similar

I see four possibilities:

Both events occurred. Tragic.

Neither event occurred. Therapy.

Only the first event occurred and the OP resuscitated it and modified it to make an impact. OK, she is a lawyer.

Only the second event occurred. She should abandon law and become a prophet.

Upset? Nah! Seekiing attention and/or stirring the pot!

I'd like to know which of the folks who have lost a cat due to its being snatched from within a lanai by a coyote has actually OBSERVED the snatching so as to be able to verify that is was a coyote doing the snatching. Without an eyewitness accounting all the coyote blame is hogwash - or at least doubtable!

Bobcat or coyote. I do not think we get the subadult humans who do these kind of things sometimes in other communities. There were paw prints in at least one of these cat snatchings in the Villages.

I just want the wild life to leave the pets alone. However that can be accomplished with minimum pain and injury to both the pets and pet owners as well as the wild life should be the issue.

I know that the 2 women (1 home, 1 cat) that were featured on Channel 9 a few weeks ago owned a ferrel cat that they adopted. Tha cat was an "outside" cat. The cat didn't return and they "assumed" a coyote took it. They saw a coyote one day in their neighborhood.

I don't believe that any coyote was actually SEEN by anyone that had a cat that disappeared. The only one I know of is the gentleman that said a coyote took his unleashed dog in the dark.

When there are legitimate reasons to address this issue, then maybe some thought can be put into it.

One unleashed dog supposedly being snatched by a coyote does not warrant any action......except for owners to be cautious and aware.

Just by looking at the screen you should be able to tell if an animal broke into it or out of it. Same principle as glass on the inside of a house or on the outside for whether a burglar actually broke in or someone is looking for insurance by claiming one broke in. The threads of the screen should show. https://youtu.be/UPDzZYDkWMU

A screen might be more difficult. An animal can certainly pushed a screen jumping, etc. or use their claws to scratch at it and maybe pull the screen in.

Would you not be able to tell if a cat ran through a screen or got through it some other way from how the hole looks? I suppose a con artist trying to fool an insurance investigator could tamper with the evidence as could some troll looking to create havoc on a web-site. Trolls are rarely very subtle though and usually go for instant gratification in trying stir the pot. They rarely play a long con game.

I doubt if she is making this up as her real name and address are easy to get to from the web-site she used to post the pictures.

Some kind of cognitive dissonance may be involved here too. Cognitive Dissonance Theory | Simply Psychology

I would be rather upset if I went on a site hoping for sympathy and just got disbelief. That actually has happened to me a lot on other sites when trying to tell people about my own biographical history and instead of trying to understand it, they attack the messenger.

Most trolls want to be anonymous for a reason.
