I don't think it has anything to do with cranky or even age.
Human nature makes us want to be treated equal in all aspects of life. when someone else is singled out for more than what we believe is there far share, then jeolousy sets in...,.. I would not have complained to management but I would not have returned to that resturant knowing that some customers get special treatment while others do not and what makes me not one of the special ones. probably not in line for sainthood, but I strongly believe that fair is fair.... |

It is often said that as a person gets older he/she reverts back to childish behavior. I think this is very true. The tattle tailers, the, I want everything to be equal, the, that wasn't meant for me attitudes prevail here. So I think it is true there is a lot of issues that are irritating to many in TV. But don't let it get you down. Please look past all these trivial things and live your own life. And remember people from different parts of the country react different and you won't change their mind at their age.
I often get better service by servers. Not because the server thinks I am going to tip well but because I talk to them civil and not in a demanding attitude. |

Most likely the manager or another employee questioned the extra and it was just easier to say another customer was to blame.

This is what goes on here......AM BETTING the "tattle tale" does not know the meaning of a real tip or RATHER, 20% is the tip that is warranted for great service.......Being a Former Tipped Employee.....we can "smell" the ones who take care of you for going above and beyond!! I would bet $100 MikeV...you are a 20% and you have been to that Olive Garden before!!....Service people ALWAYS go the extra mile for their Customers who tip them appropriately....

This isn't point on, but........
Not long ago, I was at a fairly expensive Sunday Brunch buffet not far from here. I noticed a woman at the buffet table filling plastic containers with fancy salads, etc and putting them in her large purse. Pretending innocent ignorance, I asked her "Oh, you can have takeouts???" She said, "Yes, we paid for it". I said "Really!! Do they charge extra for the containers?? Should I ask our server about it??. She stopped packing it away & returned to her party. Nothing accomplished, but it was a crowded buffet and I noticed that at least several people overheard our exchange and snickered or shook their heads in astonishment. Maybe it was none of my business and I didn't run to management about her, but I have to admit that it felt good to just expose her as a cheap pig. Not that she cared. Hey, maybe she did pay for it. Not!!! Nasty old Dominick. |

The people in the next table just happened not to luck out, and they were ticked off. And mean about it. You're right, they shouldn't go back if they think they were treated unfairly. But to raise a fuss get the waitress in trouble? Unforgivable.

These people need to go rent the movie "Waiting" than ask themselves if they want to whine and complain about their service/server again. LOL

In my world, "equal treatment" and "being singled out" apply to much more important things than a glass of wine. I've never known anyone who would even notice...much less complain about such a trivial issue. Finishing off a bottle of wine (by pouring the last bit into a glass) is common practice. It is Not normal behavior to complain about that practice. |
