We built a Lilac, so similar to Iris. I wrote a reply to this post for the same question. Good luck and have fun.

When you go to look at examples of items to choose, take your time! You'll have a long time to live with your choices-make sure you're happy with each thing as you go. The Villages and their designers won't steer you wrong! Then just have fun and enjoy your new home...

I agree with Cricket1. The designers will not steer your wrong. My personal opinion is to bump anything and everything that you can if you can afford it. We are in the process of building a Zinnia and did a bump on the front and the lanai in addition to adding a golf car garage and a 10x16 craft room for the Queen Bee. I'm now wishing that I had bumped the lanai another 2' but whatever. I hope you get Jim Lane for you consultant. He is smart as a whip with a great sense of humor. Anyway, good luck and welcome to TV!

we decided to only have 3 windows in our bedroom becasue we would not get to see the golf course from the 4th. Got credit. I posted this thread "picking an Iris - advise? " and got lots of good ideas. Check it out.

Hello and you must be very excited about your design appt. Sounds like you are on the right track so far with the stretches. We put in pull out drawers in our kitchen cabinets. Much easier to get to your pots and pans or whatever you will be storing. We also put in pull out shelves in the pantry closet which I believe is a must. You may consider a side garage door installation so you don't have to open the garage door every time you want to exit the garage. We didn't do that but wished we had. If we are going in and out with gardening tools it would have been much easier to have a side garage door to go in and out of. Also, put additional outlets in your rooms, even the lanai. The under kitchen cabinet lightening is really nice as well. We have a Gardenia. Enjoy designing your new home!!

I also added additional lighting in the ceiling in the living room/dining room, put pendants over the kitchen counter bar and had a wet bar installed on the lanai, plus the bump outs. You can't think of everything but I know that it helped us to talk to people and ask what they did or didn't do. Good luck, enjoy.

I agree with Bigben. Consider adding "pot lights to your living room and bedroom(s). Makes a world of difference. We also added additional "cubbies" in both the master and guest showers.....more room for shampoos and such. Also consider putting an additional light in the shower. Ours is fairly large and needed two lights, one at each end. The closets are real dark, even with the lights on. Not sure if you can get a more powerful light in the master closet.
