Default like it a lot

One of my daughters invited me to play Scrabble on it - we're now on our 2nd game. You can also send little messages while playing Scrabble, kind of fun.

Also a wonderful way to see and post photos of friends/relatives.

I use FB too because so many friends and relatives are on it now. I seem to have better contact with people in FB then I do with e-mail.

Default Beware on Facebook

Just a warning that Facebook is not a secure site. Just this last weekend I got an e-mail from Facebook telling me that someone had accessed my Facebook account from Texas. I was not in Texas nor do I know anyone who lives there. I have very tight privacy controls on Facebook so I don't know how anyone could have gotten my user name and password. I could understand it if I had spyware on my computer but Norton scans come up clean except for a few cookies. I left Facebook a year or so ago because I was worried about security. I do not have a good feeling about this web site, considering that it was this easy to get into my account?? I have enjoyed playing games there and connecting with friends and family, but right now I am not feeling it's worth it. Has anyone else had a similar, scary experience on Facebook?

Sounds fishy. I doubt the email actually was from FB, but of course I could be wrong.

Tks Pturner. Just learning my way around TOTV. It's a little overwhelming when you're not very computer savvy...but I've found this site very informing. Will try to post more often.

I do not like its security and not really interested in the minute by minute details of what my friends and family are doing. I hate all the silly little games that people get involved in and then try to get me to join in. I hate distant relatives sending me their resumes asking me for a job. Also dislike how some people feel free to be nasty or snide safe behind their keyboards and post comments that they would never say to your face. Also confused about how everyone on Facebook's kids are so smart. Seems that education has advanced to the point where there are no longer any not so smart kids anymore or perhaps their parents stay off of Facebook out of shame. Got to also love those "friends" who befriend you because they sell insurance, books, or whatever else they are trying to sell you. Also tend to find that Facebook lets people present themselves as they want to be viewed rather than how they really are in real life. Worst is all those little trite sayings everyone is fond of posting like, "the best gift a father can give to his children is to love their mother" or "the best thing a father can do for his children is to install morality", or "the best thing a father can do for his children is to teach them self reliance", ad nauseum. Heaven forbid someone comes up with an original line.

Last but not least, hate the way that Facebook further moves society to one where relationships are defined by an internet website and our "friends" are those who post on the web but are seldom, if ever, spoken to verbally or met in person. A society where popularity is defined by how many Facebook friends one has. It just bothers me when I hear people I know speak of friends only to find out that they mean people they have not seen in years or never at all but communicate with weekly on Facebook. Nonetheless I love Farmville. Only kidding, I quit Facebook awhile ago and my profession is in IT. I prefer my interpersonal relations to involve actually using my voice and eyes. For distant friends I email occassionally, speak on the phone with them every other month and when in their area, visit them. Surprisingly none of my close friends and family are on Facebook anymore, having once used it and found it to be lacking. YMMV

Default Yes

I reluctantly got on FB after getting several friends invitations. I don't do the "silly games" Vinny mentioned, because I don't like the fact they pull your and friends information. I agree with the other post about restricting what contact information you grant. I do like FB for contact with friends across the country as well as family. I'm not on it like TOTV, but do like staying in touch with a lot of friends.

As others have mentioned Facebook is a great way to keep in tough with famly members and friends. But.... it is also the reason I am moving to the Villages. I found a friend of mine who I hadn't been in touch with for more than ten years. Several months after reconnecting I met her in Florida for a Life Style visit and fell in love with the Villages. After three months I finally have a contract for my home in New Jersey and will be coming to the Villages to purchase my dream retirement home this Thursday!

Default another FB friend !

I always check FB several times a day to catch-up with what my peeps are doing, and I love to share my photos and see theirs. FB reconnected me with a couple of lost friends and former coworkers that I often thought about.

However, I detest those "games" and applications, so have to use the "hide" mode for those friends who participate in them

I have real-life friends, family, former co-workers, cyber friends and a couple of TV friends

I never thought that Facebook would be of interest to me. I joined and now, I speak regularly with my daughter as well as nieces and nephews that I rarely had contact with. I have also been contacted by tons of old friends and former colleagues. My sister is also a frequent Facebook friend.

I think I am closer now with my nieces and nephews than I have ever been.

Does anybody else use/enjoy facebook?
I was able to locate 2 former friends that i had lost touch with 35 years ago, I never would have found them as they both moved away.
