That "walks with poop" t-shirt is not something I would wear in the Villages because of the passion of the poop here. Do think the size and number of the dogs matters too. I would much rather have someone with a tea cup Yorkshire terrier pooping and peeing on my hard (this happens on occasion) than someone with three Great Danes. All female too. The females seem more likely to pee all in one spot while the males dribble here and there. Fortunately, there are no Great Danes in the neighborhood at the moment.

ya can't fix stupid.
It is an exclusive club with members including the poop leavers the speeders the chair savers the line jumpers the cigarette butt tossers and all the other inconsiderates who simply choose not to abide by the rules and common sense that most of us do as a matter of course in daily life.

The good new they are less than 5% of any population.

The bad news is that 5% seems to be all that is ever talked about.

AGAIN.....you have correctly and concisely defined the problem.

There appears to be no more facts to gather so in a scientific way we come to the trial conclusion which is...

Take a deep breath and think about all the positive things we enjoy here.

And thank you once again Billy.

Some interesting facts about American pet ownership,,,,http://www.petfinder.com/for-shelter...ter_friendly=1

Do you really think that those that are "burdened" with problem posting on TOTV will really accomplish anything? Especially when its the same post over and over. And getting the same replies.

I would hope in time that it will accomplish something. Perhaps a solution of some sort or new rules, more monitoring, fines ...who knows. Such as some states and their seat belt and cell phone usage laws, but, if you get caught there are huge fines.
To ignore or give up up on any issue/problem that continues is a defeatist attitude. This world didn't get where it is by everyone giving up. If enough people talk, like they do in think tanks and the like. we use to have brainstorming sessions where no idea was bad just to get more ideas that could possibly be built upon. It worked in most situations.
Maybe a thread could be started with a list of ideas that are added to by everyone. Compiled it may give some thoughts to a viable solution. Just my opinion....
And.. Btw there are many of us that are burdened more than others due to their property where dogs and their lazy, inconsiderate, self-centered, selfish owners use it as their toilet versus other property owners. Sure , their solution is move. Lol

Interesting comment! It's easy to check pet policies on any retirement community under consideration. There are many retirement communities where dogs are prohibited. A lot of communities restrict dogs to "one dog per houshold under 25 lbs". A little research before purchasing would shed light on pet policies. Many people purchase in The Villages because of the liberal dog policy ... "two domestic pets per household, any size". That policy is a "welcome home" beacon for pet lovers, especially those with large dogs. However with 100,000 residents and three very small dogparks, I personally think the Developer needs to provide more dog parks.

Of course dog owners should be respectful and have their dogs eliminate at home. All the pet owners I know carry bags any time they take their dog for a walk. It's incredibly rude to not pick up after your pet. I think we're talking about a very small percentage of people who are disrespectful when it comes to pet elimination.

Most were less than sympathetic. This community is over run with dogs. They sure didn't put that in the DVD. A lot choose not to follow rules. I was sitting in the car at one of the postal pickups and watched a woman allow her dog to go in the grass there. She did pick it up, but threw it in the trash can that has a sign not to do so. She knew I saw this, threw her head back, picked up the dog and got into her car. This is never going to go away unless we find a common ground, but the dog owners are in the majority and the rest of us will be railroaded.

In my "prior life" I managed RV resorts. One constant problem was....guess what? DOG POOP! Out of anything that one might complain about, dogs going on ones "property" was always a problem.

In my whole life, I have always picked up after my dogs...even in my own courtyard villa...immediately.

There will always be those that rules dont apply to. But it is a very small percentage who unfortunatly ruin it for others.

Totally agree!

After all, who is going to start a thread "My neighbor is good - he/she picks up their dog poop."

Just picked up some of my dog's pooh and then washed the spot down with a bucket of water as it was a little runny.

Most of my neighbors pick up after their dog as do most of the people I see walking their dog around the area. Once in a while I see someone who has left dog poop in someone's yard and I even may pick it up if I am not already out of bags.

Really do not understand all this wrath about dog poop. Seems there are much more important topics to discuss than this.

Do you think that anyone of that small percent reads any of this ?

I knew when I was coming to The Villages that it was dog friendly as I was told by my realtor, but after reading all these poop threads makes me wonder. Are the expectations for everyone to be perfect and our pets? Sorry, but it will never happen with me and my gals, but I sure will try to be responsible and considerate to my neighbors in all aspects of living in the community, we will do our very best but may disappoint a few along the way.
IN NY they have signs which say ,curb your dog, which means they go on the street, not on the lawn.
