No need. I've had and loved several dogs over the years. Some of my neighbors loved my dogs, others didn't like dogs, some were distrustful of dogs or were afraid of them. Each had their own reason for their feelings. Their feelings and their reasons were their business and none of mine. I never assumed the privilege of trespassing onto their yard for any reason. Just reminding folks that not everyone loves dogs or their visits and not to be shocked by those who don't like their home being the daily doggie restroom, or like being approached by strange dogs.

Don't expect neighbors to provide food, water, toilet facilities (that means "keep off the neighbors grass, no excuses!"), etc. When you got a dog (or any pet) you and you alone became responsible for it, 100% of the time.
Who said (except you) that anyone should expect anything?

Walk by my place, I put a refrigerator with cold beer in it for the walkers. Itโ€™s hot and you need to stay hydrated.

Is the water bowl considered a lawn ornament? You might get reported by the clipboard ladies?

I think it's a great idea. I'll put out a bowl of fresh water at the end of the driveway, starting this week! I won't be funding someone else's dog treat supply though. We have neighbors who do that already, these pups around here are spoiled (and most of them are awesome)!

I just really wish the pet owners would put little booties on their pooch's feet, or have them walk their dogs on the grass instead of the pavement. If it's 80ยฐ outside, the blacktop is around 125ยฐ. Forcing them to walk on a hot blacktop road is cruel.

The comment to which you refer has nothing to do with being a responsible dog owner.

It does have to do with being kind and considerate and a nice person.

"When you 'got' (sic) a dog . . ." Yeah, right. I get it 100%!
I have shared my life and home with 8 dogs over the years. When I got a dog it was either a gift I had asked for, purchased, adopted, rescued or inherited. I loved them all. As to my comment "speaks volumes about what kind of dog owner"I was, Thank You! However I got my dogs, I provided them with a safe and comfortable home with good food, plenty of fresh water, healthy treats and snacks, plenty of exercise, regular medical checkups, and loads of love.
Some of my neighbor's loved my dogs, others, not so much. Each had their own reasons for their feelings. When we went out, I carried water and treats as I preferred they not eat or drink from potentially contaminated sources (communal water bowls). I never let them approach anyone unless that person asked for interaction. My dogs never were allowed access to anyone yard. Never had anyone say a negative thing about my dogs. My dogs lived happy and healthy lives. I think I did just fine.

I agree. Walk early or walk late. In the heat of the day the dog would rather be at home and cool.
As to the water bowl, every car, cart, contractor that goes by will contaminate what will very quickly become hot water.

Just keep remembering that isolated incidents reporting on TOTV (and most media outlets for that matter) are akin to making a banquet outta a ham sandwich!!

With summer coming up this is a great idea! Summer is very hard on small dogs walking on or near pavement, if more people put out water it would be nice.

When I we got home I put a water bowl out front and a sealed container with treats and poop bags in it.
So you have a dog ? Or were you just storing the treats and poop bags in case you decided to get a pooch. Also if you have a dog why didnโ€™t you take โ€œitโ€ on the walk or did you and just failed to mention it. Iโ€™m calling BS on this post
