What strikes me the most is that the posters rely on ugly generalizations about old folks. It is very similar to prejudice, bigotry and the like. People who post those types of things are the same as those who claim "All blacks are..." or "All Jews are..." or even "All liberals are..." Stereotyping is the weapon of the ignorant.

Don't waste your time trying to engage these folks in a battle of wits, because your oppnents are unarmed. Ignore them...most of their posts are made when Villagers actually respond to their nonsense.

This type of resentment is very common in areas that have experienced large influx's of people. While I certainly don't condone this persons vitriol, it is not uncommon in areas that have changed radically in a short period of time. If you live in South Florida, you will often see bumper stickers that say "Native Floridian", of "we don't care how you did it in New York". They long for a time they will never be able to get back again. I'm sure that if there was facebook in the early 1900's we would have read of resentment of Catholics, Irish, Italians, etc. Let's just let it go. Not everyone has to love us.

The posts by these young people are truly upsetting becuase they confirm once again that elders have lost their status in our society. It use to be that elders were given great respect and younger people sought out their opinions. Now we too often appear to be a drag on society

So I was thinking about the kids saying tv came in and destroyed their beautiful landscape. But it seems that TV has been around for much longer then they have.

Too bad they aren't thankful for the jobs it has created that the kids in my neighborhood would love to have. There are people making a lot of
money here. These kids have only lived here so they might. Ot understand the resession the rest of the US has gone though.
