2. They design seats that recline about 3 inches, but when you recline, they know that the person behind you is going to be mad about it.
3. They charge different prices for almost every seat on the plane. Every seat should have a fixed price.
4. They charge their best customers (business travelers) the highest price for their seats than all other passengers. What business does that?
5. If you want to sit in the first class section, they charge you an arm and a leg for the seat. Way more than it is worth.
6. The employees act more like dictators than someone who is trying to satisfy their customers.
7. Some airlines won't even allow you to select a seat until you get on the plane. So, boarding is like musical chairs.
8. They allow people to cram stuff into the overhead bin for free, but charge you to check a bag. Why not require all the luggage to be in the same place?
Most of the things you mentioned has always been like this. I think it’s because society is trying to change people how we’re suppose to think. The 8 things above are things that’s always been the way airlines have been!

These would be common-sense moves but unfortunately, money talks and you-know-what walks. For all their supposed concern about safety, airlines still liquor up their passengers and the same with ballparks, who then shake their heads sanctimoniously at out-of-control, drunken fans who use bad language and act in offensive, inappropriate ways. They make a lot of money on those $10 beers!

You know the old joke,

"What happens when 5 people get drunk? A fight breaks out. What happens when 5 people get stoned, they form a band".

So the logic is: since there is only a probability of death of 0.005 per 100,000 flight hours, it is fake news to report any plane crash when it does occur? Sure, that makes sense.

Speaking about fights on an airplane - that was the all-time best joke that I have seen on TOTV! Whoof, whoof.......which roughly translated means "you go puppy and only smell those bitch butts.......they are the perfumed ones". And we need more UNEMPLOYED ex-Army warfighters to help add to the numbers of the Air Marshalls to control the crazed, alcohol and high altitude mindlessness that is exponentially increasing as proven by statistical analysis.
......THEN we need to analyze what factors are causing this increase? Be it social, economic, or otherwise? Let the chips fall where they fall.

I agree, but it has gotten worse over the years (see Post No. 73). You used to be able to check a few bags for free, and almost all airlines assigned seats in advance. And, they gave you a halfway decent meal for free. But, I think the biggest change that has affected passenger conduct is the aggressive marketing and pricing schemes designed to fill every seat on every plane. The planes are too crowded. I know they need to make a profit, but, I can remember when most flights had empty seats and you could stretch out and be more comfortable. I would rather pay more for more space. First class is an option, but I think the cost is not in line with the value, and it is really not designed to address the overcrowding problem.

And I go back to wondering why the US does?

The question was the CAUSE of increased numbers of unruly passengers, and I suggested that unhappiness with the mask policy was a big factor. It has nothing to do with the vaccination rate of Portugal

Well, considering the Vaccination rate in Portugal is only 84%, not 98% (shocker, I know!)... Oh wait, it STILL has nothing to do with the conversation...

I was flying all over the world from the mid 50’s on yes it was nicer but out of reach for many people , I can tell you this it’s not the seats that are a problem it’s the size of a majority of people sitting in them that’s the problem . It doesn’t take much work to get a cheaper fare if you want one but I for one think it’s a great bargain I flew home to Boston regular before Covid and I flew home this summer for $348 on jet blue and I’ll bet someone did worse or better then me and after my second shot I flew round trip first class for$3,880 to Thailand for a month and will probably fly there in January and fares are up for first class but I don’t think I’ll have to pay more then about $4,800 go raiders
