We have natural gas at Mallory, hubby is thinking of a gas grill or propane BBQ but can’t figure where to store the propane tank safely when we are not here. Is a gas line worth it? What might it cost to instal and by who?

We store ours on the lanai, just in case of a leak, this is the most ventilated area in our house.

Absolutely worth it unless you like running out of gas in the middle of your BBQ.

We had natural gas grill up north, used it all year long (after shoveling snow off the deck). Well worth it, your food will cook at a constant temperature.

Any competent plumber should be able to run a natural gas line. Just make sure you have a shut-off valve near the grill and that you buy a grill with the proper natural gas regulator. They are different from propane grills...

Although you can modify your current propane grill to accept natural gas...

Why not just leave it in the grill (not inside the birdcage, that outside?) Or do you store the grill inside? If you can remove the tank and store it outside about anywhere. ( like stored when you brought it or where it filled at, outside. I sure got big birdcage to store it in corner?

I don’t barbecue enough to warrant gas line installation.

I would have shutoff one at the meter also.

I stored out propane tank in the backyard behind some shrubs of our former CYV when we were not in TV.

Propane is more energy-efficient and considered to be a green fuel, while natural gas is not. Natural gas is delivered to houses via gas pipelines. Propane is delivered in propane tanks. Lastly, propane is heavier than air, but natural gas is lighter. Source Google.

Make sure your grill is designed for dual fuel and able to run off of natural gas. Not every propane grill can use natural gas, so be sure to consult your owner's manual

I have two appliances outside my lanai. Both are fed by natural gas. No more lugging tanks around, needing a spare, running out at inopportune times. Use both of them extensively, often both for same meal

Never used the exchange tanks before but in Florida we have 3 tanks. One on our fire pit, one on our grill and one on our Blackstone. Plenty of overlap if one tank runs out. Since just about every store has an exchange cabinet, it is easy. We just put it on the golf cart in go. Have not seen anywhere to refill a tank in the Villages.

During a hurricane your tank could become a missile.

Propane tanks are extremely safe any shaded with air circulating spot is safe. Although maybe hubby is just tired of dealing with propane lol
