I have been programming cards and chip disc's for a few years, I usually get 20 bucks for a extra card and a disc programed for your golf cart or car mirror. The reason I do not like to advertise the fact is like others have mentioned, the height of the gate scanners and distance from curb are different depending on your area, and most truck side view mirrors are to high and many different styles of mirrors. I always get calls, well it worked on gate a and b, but gate c did not. I have tried on multiple gates, and I can get something working in one area, and then not work in a different area. I guarantee they work, then it comes back to the issues I have mentioned, and that is why I give a extra card and disc, so if the disc does not work, use the card. Then people will ask me, why should I buy a disc if it does not work all the time. For 20 bucks I tell them it's just paying for extra card, with a free disc.

Was his name Dennis? There is a gate employee named Dennis at the Hillsborough gate who thinks he’s Barney Fife. Drunk with power and always making it difficult for residence and visitors. I had to use the visitor gate once because I misplaced my card. He was familiar with me and knew I was a resident so he held me up until a line of 10 residence cars went through. His action, of course, backed up the visitor line. I asked him why he was doing it and he said it was punishment for a resident using the visitor lane. I reported him to his department but they didn’t seem to care. He’s still there playing police man instead of “greeting” people.

Some say they are just profiling the public coming and going with videos.
Whay happens to the videos??

But then due.. and a instead of an.. So close... I think the were overrides the due and the a, so thumbs up Dana.

I'm having that kind of English teacher morning. I'm sorry.

I am amazed at the way people read something then leap to a wildly unsupported belief as to what they read. Actually I am not surprised at all.

So, I'm wondering what the OP was going to do about the dropped gate card if the guard had opened the gate? Just drive off, leave it on the ground and order a new one? If OP was so far away from the button that OP couldn't reach out the window and push it, then OP had room to open the car door and retrieve the gate card and use it to open the gate.
While it is possible the gate pass was dropped onto the street, it is more likely that it was dropped inside the car as post #17 mentioned.

Post #21 gave the correct information that the gate person can open either gate from inside the booth. No need to leave the booth and go push the red button.

Some of the posters' comments above indicate that they do a whole lot of assuming: 1. The OP dropped the card on the ground outside the car. It likely fell inside the car and couldn't be retrieved. 2. The gate attendant would risk his life leaving the building to push the red button for the OP, when all the attendant has to do is control the gate arm from inside the building. 3. The OP is a female. Prior posts indicate the OP is a "he."

*IF* the card was dropped outside the car, here is an article about what can happen if you open the door to retrieve it.

(Yes, it does not always happen, but it can)

I went to the visitors side and used my card, the gate keeper told me I can't use that side..... I said " then what's the swipe pad for" ???
He just looked at me as I drove away...

I use that gate often and several of the ‘Gatekeepers’ watch out for carts heading south on Morse. I have personally seen them ‘break step’ so as to provide a gap for carts. Don’t be too quick to criticize from one experience - and maybe the cars were backing up dangerously to 466?

Are you insinuating TOTV posters jump to conclusions without thinking?

Report the employee...

- Go to districtgov.org
- Scroll down and on the left, click on "Submit Inquiry or Concern" box
- Select the Category "Employee Behavior"
- Fill out the form and copy and paste your comments from here into the box "Question/Comment"
- I would also add the location, the date, and the time that it happened.

I don't know how long it will take for someone to get back to you, but it's worth a shot.
This gate employee's behavior is despicable.

Report him for what? Did he break a rule or procedure?
