Maybe someone can clarify this logic for me, bc I just don't get it. If I was going to any big box retailer, even Target or Walmart, I would want my full size trunk and back seat. I would also like to get there in 7 minutes vs the 20+ it would take by golf cart if that was even an option (which it usually isn't if you live south of LSL).

Sure, I like a nice scenic drive once in while on a golf cart. And the dog loves it. But for running errands, using a golf cart is an inferior experience bordering on a chore.

You must not be a "normal villager" LOL. that's ok neither am I and I completely agree, it makes no sense, especially when the 'reachable' gets stretched but going where you aren't supposed to. Either way, car, truck, etc is far better than a golf cart.

Name me another community that has access to as many things by golf cart. None exist I looked. If I wanted to live in a pickup truck community I would have found a nice pickup truck community to live in. If I have the choice of picking my car, truck or golf cart to go somewhere, any where, it’s my choice.

I see a potential business for adding tie downs to the roof. Maybe a water proof bags as well! $250 + installation??? Offer specials every six months where the installation is free!

You are missing or unaware of some facts concerning Golf Carts in the Villages. There are some cases where travel by golf cart is faster then Car. A trip to Brownwood from South of the Turnpike can easily be less time in cart vs. Car for example. You're also classifying all carts as not having storage capacity. There are large 'carry bags' that can mount in place of golf bags and there are also enclosed carts such as the Atomic that have a higher enclosed carry capacity equal to that of a small car.

Only if the car gets a flat tire. The MMP south of 44 has more traffic than Meggison.

And our 4 seater has a flip down rear seat that makes a platform. A bungie cord secures stuff.

Absolutely correct! I live south of 44 and work in Brownwood. It takes me longer by car than by golf cart to get to work and isn’t nearly as fun. I wait for zero red lights!

I’m sure none of us have ever run into Publix for one or two items. Another place to never take your cart.

Costco has glasses. I can use my golf cart for that… and many other things. Lunch, a quick stop to check prices, laundry soap, wine, seafood… but for me, it’ll be about 7 minutes away, by golf cart. I am looking forward to it. 👍

The only time I do /not/ take my golf cart for normal grocery shopping, is if it's raining. I even bring a thermal bag with an ice pack in the bottom for super hot days to keep the ice cream from melting on the way home.

There is no right or wrong, it’s a matter of personal preference. Unless it’s pouring out after it gets dark outside, I would prefer to take one of our golf carts every time I go out. Whenever we fly to our Villages home, we don’t even have a car. I suppose one’s preference would be influenced by where their home is located. We are fortunate to have everything we could possibly need (with the exception of a half way decent emergency room) within a short golf cart ride. If the lighthouse seafood market on 466 was golf cart accessible, our car would probably never get used.

Ya, that line of thinking was impressed upon me before we came down by some friends who already lived here. It sounded ridiculous at face value and proved to be complete nonsense after testing it myself.

I'm sure there are rare examples where this might be true as you pointed out, but my experience is that, in general, anywhere I need to go is at least 2X time using a golf cart vs a car.
