I'm with those that just enjoy going by golf cart most places. I don't claim that it's usually faster but it is usually easier to get parked when I arrive- especially at Spanish Springs and LSL squares.

In general, if it's 10 miles or so I take the cart. I live north of 466. If I go to Rohan, Brownwood, or south I take the car. We do 90% or more of our shopping by cart. Having space for groceries has never been a problem for us.

I take my cart to Publix at least once a week!

The greatest thing is everyone makes a choice best for them.
Unless the villages is getting a cut $$$$, you won’t be getting there by cart.

I dont think it’s cool, it’s just part of the lifestyle. If I wanted to get in and out of a car all the time, I would have picked another community.

We use the term “simple” to describe the lifestyle in the Villages. Our Golf Carts are part of the simple lifestyle.
If we don’t need to get in the car, we don’t.

To use a golf cart is a personal preference. We use ours for everything possible and since not working I don't live by a clock.

I've had enough, after 15-20 minutes. Even at the golf course, I have trouble sitting in the cart for 4 hours. When I go to Sam's Club (& I only get a few items), I have trouble fitting them in the trunk of my car (it is small).

I can't understand how folks are excited about a Costco coming to the area and talking about driving their carts to shop. I package of toilet paper and your cart is full.

Yup, I'm one of them. It's one of the highlights of my day when I need to drive on the golf cart bridge over 441. It's the whole "Adult Disney" aspect of The Villages, unlimited roller coaster ride any time of day or night. And taking the MMPs to just explore areas I haven't seen before, pulling over onto the grass to take a picture of a gator catching some sun on the banks of a retention pond, and being an active participant in everything I see, rather than just an observer behind the relative safety of steel and glass.

I absolutely LOVE driving around in the golf cart. I'm sorry it doesn't "do it" for you but hopefully you have something in your life that brings you that "little" joy every day.

Walmart, Aldi's, Lowes, Marco's Pizza, the car wash, the Puerto Rican restaurant, the vape stores, Sonic - none of these are on Villages-owned property. They're not making a dime off of them, and it's ALL accessible by golf cart.

To be fair, those are the exceptions and are only accessible because residents fought against a wall blocking that access. There is only one other approved "breach" of the bubble that I am aware of and it does not lead to any businesses. It appears that those stores might remain the only exception and all other business accessible by golf cart are on property owned by the Villages.

Because of the golf cart convenience, we’ll pop into BJ’s when we can’t decide on dinner. Awww, a rotisserie chicken for $4.99 and golf cart parking right up front. One item - in and out. Nice!

That's just - not true. Rolling Acres Plaza on 441 is golf cart accessible, and is not owned by The Villages. They have Staples, Outback Steakhouse, Target, CVS and Walgreen's, Moes, and a bunch of other retail shops and restaurants/takeout joints.

The statement absolutely is true. I have no idea whether that plaza is owned by the Developer or not. If it is not owned by the Developer then it is a breach that I was not aware of, making my statement true.

So let’s try this a different way. Other than those two areas and possibly the 7-11 and Shooter’s World at Powell Rd, what retail areas not owned by the Developer are golf cart accessible from the Villages? Trailwinds Village, Freedom Plaza, and McDonalds/Sparr/Signature Village are three that appear to have been intentionally kept inaccessible.

My 2+2 golf cart "4 seater" has a ton of storage when we aren't using the back seats and can lay them down flat. Plus we have added bins that go on top of it. An average Costco shop could fit in my cart no problem.

The 7-11 and Shooters World by Brownwood is certainly a special case. I don’t know if the developer currently owns the real estate, but the golf carts paths to them is no accident.

Moving goalposts now? You make a statement, a supposition. Your supposition is incorrect. I point it out and you "yeah but" me.

I don't know what other places are /not/ owned by The Villages. I just knew that there were more than all the places between the Historic Section and Stonecrest on that side of 441.

That underlined part? That is your supposition. You are incorrect. However YOU think it appears - you are wrong. What's worse, is you then - in a subsequent post, added a 7-11 and Shooter's World as OTHER exceptions, proving your own previous post wrong. And yes they are both also golf-cart accessible, and the property isn't owned by The Villages.

The other strip malls are on properties owned by The Villages. You could've just looked it up with a google search "who owns trailwinds plaza the villages" etc.
