Default Tipping those who do work around your home

Do you tip those workers who come in and install carpet, paint or upgrade your bathroom, etc. etc.?

we regularly tip the workers that we hire...we see it as another opportunity to give back to our local community...but it's not automatic...it's based upon their attitude and the quality of work

I am not ashamed to say we do not tip contractors.

yes, we do. for the trash pickup we actually hand out xmas cards with a small token of our appreciation inside. i'll never forget the look on the driver's face when we gave him one-complete surprise as if he never got 1 before, lol. i do it cuz it feels good, & now we know them by name.

Depending on the job sometimes an appropriate small taste after they start and then adjust according to the job they do. The key is to let them know more is coming if they don't disappoint. Remember we got a Stimulus Check. It's to Stimulate those who deserve it. Our lawn crew is my favorite target for a nice tip and something cold to drink. They give their all in a rough and thankless job. It's customary to do this where I come from.

How do you know if you are tipping the same guys who regularly do the pickup for you?

because he took a liking to our pug. now when they come by, she has to be the 1st 1 to greet them. now & then we get a different driver, usually around the holidays

We just had a large tree removed from our courtyard, and were happy to give the three workers a generous tip for a job well done.

We tip the workers when they do a good job. We do not tip the actual contractors who are (IMHO) usually ripping off Villagers with their estimates.

Stan, a nice Sangwich or a case of beer or NOTHING is appropriate in many cases. Judging somebody else's way of handling things for me is not the way to go.

I'm sorry to hear you are sorry about it because it's none of our business.
