In general, not specifically referring to this post there are some people here who do that in 90% of their posts. The old saying "if you can't say something productive then just stfu" applies. Or some saying like that! If everyone followed that golden rule things would be much nicer. Just to note, there is a difference between disagreeing with someone and explaining why one disagrees vs. just making a snarky reply that either intentionally or UNintentionally only serves to insult which adds nothing positive to a discussion.

Are you talking about Christmas time or cleaning out the dryer vent?

This is where I am old school. I think how I spend my money or save it or share it is very personal. I think you would have to know me well to pass judgement on whether or not I am kind to others.

I think it wise for most people to be ready to see huge economic chaos. Then it will be time to quietly give to those starving or homeless, especially those who are mentally unfit.

I dislike it very much when people pass judgement on others not knowing what they do and how they think and how they live.

It depends on the situation. If I'm paying a 100 bucks to do a one hour job om my cart. No. If it is an electrician doing a $150 dollar job that took him about an hour - no. If it is a worker -not the owner - making 15 bucks an hour and he/she does a good job then probably a few bucks.

I was recently charged $110 per hour labor for 4 hours (1 hour per brake) to change the brakes on my RV. I did not tip the worker since I figured I'd been screwed enough already.

In NY where we have the automatic trucks where they don't even get out during Christmas he gets out and tapes a card to the can with his address on it.

As long as they don’t tape Jehovahs Witness literature.... don’t want to pick on them but they have left stuff at my place before.

Wanna sell the RV? Can't find a decent one for NOTHING. $440 4, 4 brakes? Gimme a Break! I'm with you. NO TIP 4 U! Like the guy on Seinfeld with the soup. I'm not typing that name no way!

Now, that's funny! I had to change from bottles to cans so I could smash the cans. People actually commented on the number of recycling cans I put out. They were the little garbage cans. But there were a lot of 'em. AA Literature

That was a lifetime ago. No more thank you, Lord!

In NY the garbage men would go door to door expecting tips.

Of course you do get different guys each week so your not exactly tipping the guys doing the work.

Default Tipping contractors

If it’s the owners of the company , I do not as they are getting the money from the job and I am sure they have padded it generously. However, if it’s his workers, I do tip. If they are there for several days , I will buy lunch for all also. I always make sure there is water available for them also.
Holiday time is the time for tipping my regulars- the lawn guy, the pest control, newspaper , postman, etc. They work hard and should be rewarded so I get them a gift card usually.
