Are the rules and guidelines of The Villages now on a Swivel? If they don't belong here maybe Community Standards should be alerted about the leak?

Recent law changes (wipers etc) have made it difficult for most gcs to become SL.

I don't think wipers are requirements. There also supposed to be reflective device on the rear that I never see? Any cart with lights, turn signals, and seat belts can be licensed and speed cranked up to 35 plus (nobody going spend the money to just go 5 mph faster) Which is why anybody wants street legal to speed down BV MMP, or MB above 25 MPH. IMO any cart that goes more than 20 MPH should be allowed in MMP. I have yet seen LSV going 25 down BV etc.. they are going at least 30 plus.

Default Golf Cart Sneaking into The Villages

I just went through it and was told wipers and a few other new things are now required. I have an Atomic Coupe so I had no problems. I agree on speed but I didn't go S.L. just for speed.
Unfortunately **if** you get stopped on the road going over 25 you are no longer considered an LSV but are now driving an illegal CAR and you are supposed to have all the safety features of a real car (airbags, DOT approval etc).

Everything you said is true...except for the "sneek" part...heheh. Still doesn't mean outsiders are prohibited from entering TV using golf carts.

Right?

Look...I'm actually just trying to have a little fun with this thread. A large part of TV economic input comes from non-Villagers. And basically nobody cares how they get here. And they aren't breaking any laws or rules by coming here, either via automobile or by cart. Of course we support maintenance of TV facilities with our Amenities Fees. But equating that with saying "outsiders" are not allowed to use the facilities is simply wrong, and goes against one of the driving principles which makes TV work.

Example: Do you think the town squares would be sustainable if everybody there had to display a TV resident ID to have access?

Trailer your golf cart to TV and enjoy miles and miles of golf cart riding.

Have we really come to this?

What about when they're on county maintained roads...of which their taxes pay for also?
The New Covenant United Methodist Church being built off of 44A at the edge of Lake Deaton was required to erect a fence along their golf cart parking area so that no outsiders using golf carts could have easy access to the connected Village multi-modal path. The powers that be do not want easy golf cart access to any Village multi-modal paths by non-Villagers. Multi-modal paths are maintained by Village monies and are not public roads.

When my daughter visits, she goes to the Chatham Pool every day. She is asked to show her guest pass, every day. I think we're getting more and more "non residents" in The Villages who are not here enjoying the Squares. I was up at 3:30 one morning last week. I usually venture into the Den and look out the window at nothing until I get tired enough to go back to sleep. We live in a Premier neighborhood, so we have huge street lights. I was surprised to see a Golf cart going around the neighborhood, more than once. Then a small Pickup Truck went around and around. Pretty soon they met at our corner, stopped and talked for a few minutes and the Golf Cart turned around and followed the Truck out of the neighborhood. Our neighborhood only has one entrance. I first thought they were delivering papers, but no, they were not. So, what were they doing at 3:30 am? I was about to call Neighborhood Watch when they left. Wish I had done it earlier!

You should call the Police. Neighborhood watch can't do anything.

We have been using the sports pools for eight years and only once have we been asked for our ID - and that time we were just showing a visitor the facilities; not using them. However, at our neighborhood pool we are asked for IDs about 50% of the time. Maybe those facilities nearer the edge of the development have more stringent controls?

Years ago this was a gated community. The county folks that were in charge did not like The Villages, only the tax money they squandered. They are the ones that stopped us from being a gated community. One Sumter was voted on and now that group is long gone and are tax's keep going down.

Maybe TV can get outsiders to build the wall!

They can and the church did build a fence. Must follow TV rules if you want to build and use the multi-modal paths for access to your building.
