A woman going north on CR101 and turning right on to Wedgwood stops dead on CR101 waiting for me to cross Wedgwood. I waived her on (I HAD THE STOP SIGN, SHE HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY). She wouldn't move. I got out of the cart and pointed to the stop sign and furiously waved her on...She looked at me and just hunched her shoulders! Cars started backing up on CR101, blowing horns, etc. She just sat there, turning her hands up in a gesture of "What?". I screamed "Go Go GO. I have the stop sign!! She would not move. Cars began turning around her to go down Wedgwood. Carts backed up behind me down into the tunnel with cart drivers yelling at me to go.
I finally had to cross the street...almost getting hit by a car coming the other way.
Why do cars to this?...stop for carts...when they have the right of way? Some body is gonna get killed if carts think they can just shoot across intersections when they don't have the right of way...
Auto drivers who have the right of way but allow golf carts to proceed anyway are just misguided but well meaning. They don't realize the safety issues they may be creating for their fellow motorists who may be stacking up behind them waiting for them to go on. This happens at Hemingway gate alot where a motorist will proceed thru the gate and then suddenly stop to allow a waiting golf cart to cross over. Any motorist following behind is then left stranded half in and half out of the gate waiting for this well meaning character to move on and clear the way.
Primary rule taught at golf cart safety classes is that in the interest of safety in all traffic cases cars always have the right of way.

I always leave early, so I do not have to speed on the cart paths.
