Default Golf Carts Passing

Wow i didn't know its legal for golf carts to cross a solid white line to pass a bicycle or another golf cart.

Also while they are in the CAR lane, are they guilty of operating an unlicensed & unregistered and uninsured vehicle on a public road

I know if I went out to pass & crossed a solid white line or a solid double line I would be eligible for a summons

Guess there are special rules for golf carts

You ae right but if you are going 10-15 miles an hour and holding up a long line of golf carts, do YOU pull over at first side street and let them pass or just keep holding everyone up?

I was in a car & a golf cart pulled in front of me & I I hit my horn, when I passed him ,he gave me the one finger salute--I told him the solid white line means no passing & I was not polite about it.

From bbbbbb
Well yes, the infractions on the paths and on the roads are a real problem here, but then there is little or no enforcement. Some real antics take place, some close calls to be sure. One guy threatened to kick out the spokes on my bike. Well you probably know what would have been next at that event. A lot of people here do not like bike riders. Probably, for a lot of them they cannot handle a bike and resent those of of who do. Unfortunately, it may have to come to some major tragic event before it comes to the attention of someone who can see the need for some controls.
Yep, the one finger salute is common and it is a sad event. We need some monitors and some stiff fines for the impulsive group that act as if they are going to a fire on a fire truck. I have talked to persons who are selling their bikes. They cannot put up with the rudeness and the pirates of Happy Hours.

Not arguing but giving my thoughts. Solid white line means crossing is discouraged but not prohibited, unlike a double white line.

Of course it goes without saying the cart needs to safely move into the road and back to the cart lane without affecting traffic.

We know we can cross the line to make a left and I would be surprised we could not leave the lane to pass a slow bike or give room to a pedestrian.

Only the sheriff knows for sure and I have never asked...

So by the OP's way thinking, you could never make a left off of Morse Blvd (or any other roadway with a cart lane) onto a side road from the cart lane.

How would a golf cart driver make a left turn if they didn't cross the white line?

From the Florida Drivers Handbook.
Solid White Line
A solid white line marks the right edge of the roadway or separates lanes of traffic moving in the same direction. You may travel in the same direction on both sides of this line, but you should not cross the line unless you must do so to avoid a hazard.

I think making a left turn from the cart lane would qualify as a hazard.

Maybe even a bike going 5 miles an hour............

Rules are rules if you're in a hurry take your car or learn to drive at the pace of the slowest person in front of you

You will live longer

When you tie with car or a truck you Will lose & you will be in the Wrong--no law suit for your heirs

Another reason for cyclists who are going +/- 10mph of the speed limit in TV to STAY IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC.

Golf cart lanes are far too dangerous and far too full of drunks and belligerent fools.

Thank you Litespeedracer--golf cart drivers think they can drive & drink, because they don't need a license, a bunch of them have had rude awakenings in jail

Golf carts are not personal convenience toys-they are lethal & in most cases its the occupants who die

Again if your in a hurry take your car &if your children or grand children have to be strapped in a car take the car

I agree---passing a much slower vehicle is acceptable just as a left turn is. For the "not allowed to cross a single white line crowd", think of this-----a workman's truck is parked in the cart lane, as they often do. You would stay still in the cart lane until the workday is done???? (BTW, it is parked--not a hazard, but an impedance) And how many times have you encountered 3 pedestrians walking abreast in the cart lane? How about the very elderly person riding very unsteady on a bicycle at 3 mph? If you couldn't cross the white line in these cases, traffic would be backed up to Orlando and beyond. Just be careful when you do it

The clown in front of me took 90 secs to pass the cart he was passing--my horn must have made them to a DEPENDS pit stop-therefore the finger salute
