First I won't bother to make an appeal to common sense for the obvious reasons.

Secondly I question not the poster, however when a poster says I called ( expert/authority) and they said..... because you have no way of knowing if the caller asked the right question and/or the called (authority) answered the question asked. I'll stop there but there could be other reasons the settled question was never really settled.

Third again remember that all this confusion concerning MMP's and diamond lanes is a result of poor planning by this community. So the best we can do is remain civil and alert.

Fourth the rules of the road apply both on the MMP's and in the diamond lanes. Hence a solid white line is intended to mean no passing exceptions are in emergency. also according to the rules of the road cars, bicycles and golf carts are considered vehicles and subject to the rules of the road

However the solid white line in this case primarily defines the diamond line and separates it from the driving lane. Clearly automobiles are in violation if they cross over the white line that divides the diamond lane from their traffic lane because they entered a lane designated for golf carts not autos

Fifth a diamond lane always result in a merging at all gates for the express purpose of merging cars and carts. Hence the question is what occurs when merging and/or passing becomes a question prior to reaching a gate. In my view if a cart, runner, bicyclist is holding up diamond lane traffic it is reasonable to assume that a golf cart would by proceeding with caution make a safe passing movement. Notice the operative word "safe". Its not passing that is the violation but unsafe passing
To suggest that a golf cat , bicylist, pedestrian/runner can never leave the diamond lane means that if any of the foregoing stopped because of a breakdown, etc then all traffic in that lane is required to stop and waiting until such obstruction is removed or on its way again

The other day in Publix I had a woman explain to me that she had to move to TV because she is legally blind and lost her drivers license...but here, she can drive a cart and just pulls over for a few minutes when things get too blurry....comforting....

if a person can't drive because of an infirmity & their Dr. notifys the DMV they can & will be charged as an unlicensed driver, even though a license is not require for a golf cart==if your drivers license is revoked or suspended you can not legally operate a golf cart

It is indeed sad that we have this opportunity to be safe, to obey rules to enjoy retired life, and to respect others, but we also have this brutal approach of "I do not like bikes on the MMPs, I do not like carts or bikes that are not going at top speed." Gear heads are us.
There is some surreal carelessness here, I have seen it and we have seriously thought of selling our bicycles. No matter what, we frequently get into tough situations while biking when we are seriously trying to avoid trouble. It reminds me of an article I read of why so many people in Retirement or Homeowner environments have problems. It was explained like this: We have some very nice folks and we have two kinds of not so nice. There are those (1) who never did much in life and now want to have a last chance to boss others. There are those who (2) were in supervisory positions of one kind or another and just cannot give it up. Makes sense to me.
So, try to drive nice, consider others, be careful and go the extra mile to avoid and accident. There are no accidents, none, there are however, violations of some law or common sense, it happens a lot here.

THose who know little about the law or have little regard for it will always find an excuse to ignore it.

At the least, she know her limitations. Some of these idiots don't...............

Its not that I'm in a hurry , its the flagrant violation of the law by the person in front of me that got to me

I'm way more patient with someone driving 5 mph under the speed limit

This is a frustration I can understand. I suspect the passing cart is one of the cart drivers that will tailgate you if their cart can go 0.5 MPH faster than you. They will be on you looking for any moment to get by. This is a very small percentage of folks IMO, but they are very frustrating to have on your *ss on an otherwise beautiful ride in TV.

If they could pass a slower cart it would happen very quickly. They likely would be speeding, but that is their problem, not mine...

I do get a real kick out of setting my cruise control RIGHT AT the speed limit on Morse, Rio Grande and El Camino Real...people get so mad, flash lights and tailgate...on those instance. I make extra special care to be more than certain that intersections are clear before crossing at stop signs

One guy threatened to kick out the spokes on my bike. Well you probably know what would have been next at that event. A lot of people here do not like bike riders. Probably, for a lot of them they cannot handle a bike and resent those of of who do. Unfortunately, it may have to come to some major tragic event before it comes to the attention of someone who can see the need for some controls.
Yep, the one finger salute is common and it is a sad event. We need some monitors and some stiff fines for the impulsive group that act as if they are going to a fire on a fire truck. I have talked to persons who are selling their bikes. They cannot put up with the rudeness and the pirates of Happy Hours.

bbbbbb ??????
If you ride a bike,I would think you would understand why most people do not like "bike riders". While those of us in cars are stopped for red lights, we just sit there and wait for it to change while those on bicycles just glide right on through it. Or just slide thru the stop signs, then you have to get by them again in traffic. But most often, it is the rudeness of the bike riders that causes the disdain. My husband and I were traveling a 2-lane, no passing road from CR 466 to CR 44 to get on the interstate for an appointment in Tampa. There were about 20-30 bikers out for a morning ride. They were very aware that we were behind them, as were other cars, and they would not/did not pull over and let the cars go by. It was a very slow trip until they got to their breakfast destination at CR 44 at the interstate exchange.

The people's reactions sound like you may be in the left lane? If so, there's a good chance you are breaking the law and they have every right to be frustrated with you.

Two lane sections of Morse and Rio...what is the harm in obeying the law?

What is super fun is to wash my headlights when cars or carts are tailgating...
