Agreed. We have received calls that the Warranty/Construction office directs homeowners to the trades to provide this information. I totally second this. Anytime a homeowner comes to me at Pike's Electric, for the price of light kits, switches/controls, etc. by the time you total all of that, you can get a higher grade quality fan with a light kit included for the price in a different finish or style. I help new and long time Village homeowners find another product, especially if the fan is 5+ years old. I have seen the standard indoor white construction fan though last as long as 10 years + sometimes.

Dam, that’s a very poor design. I installed a brand new Hunter ceiling fan recently with a light kit, but the kit had two replaceable screw in led bulbs. The fan, with light kit included, was $179. What kind of crap is being installed in new construction? LED’s should last a very long time, but with the constant vibrations from the fan failures can happen. I would see if the fan is compatible with a traditional light kit and swap it out if possible so this won’t happen again. Best of luck.

Generally, the location of a ceiling fan is a less than ideal location for task lighting. Consider whether you should just add task lighting if that is what you need. For example, do you want to read in bed? Do you have a mirror on a dresser, or any other location in the room.

Adding several recessed lights in the ceiling might be a solution. Yes, the installation won't be cheap, but the lights should last 10-30 years, but if they burn out, replacement bulbs would be $4.00 to $25.00.

As you will soon find out, when buying new lights, (LED) be mindful of what you are getting. They do make lights with removable LED bulbs and a light with regular fixture will take an LED bulb. LED lights are great but if you need to pay someone to install a new "kit" or replace the entire unit, not so great anymore. This is done on purpose by the manufacturer for several reasons. The main one as always is making $$$.

Have had same ?. Looks like a great example of planned obsolescence. Had new ceiling lights installed. When they go out will need complete fixtures.

You don't need completely new fixtures. That is why Amazon sells replacement LED panels.
