I had NO idea the Columbus Day has been celebrated on the second Monday of October since 1972. I have always thought Columbus Day was celebrated on October 12th. I guess I haven't been paying attention! Where have I been for the last 51 years???

The Federal Government will often change the date of some holidays to a Monday so the employees can get 3-day weekend.

I do understand that. I just didn't know this was done for Columbus Day. That is how much I pay attention. NOT!

You should be. I wasn't even born until 1961. But what doesn't surprise me is that you didn't understand my response, which was a parody of the post I responded. That post was written by someone who insulted an entire demographic of members of this forum by calling people who embrace differences and are sensitive to inequality "stupid."
But thanks for proving my point ![]() |

I thought "top" was making a joke. No need to insult indigenous people on their day of remembrance.
(By the way, WOKE is when you are aware of the reality of life and the world around you. The antithesis of WOKE is ASLEEP.) |

"It began as a counter-celebration held on the same day as the U.S. federal holiday of Columbus Day, which honors Italian explorer Christopher Columbus. Some people reject celebrating him, claiming that he represents "the violent history of the colonization in the Western Hemisphere".[2] Secondly, don't delude us or yourself---we all know what "woke" means, and it certainly is not the opposite of asleep in this context. |
