We have a Chocolate Lab / German shorthair pointer mix we rescued from lab rescue out of Louisana. He is now a spoiled 5 year old. We got him after loosing our 14 year old chocolate lab. We alays had german sheppards when I grew up. They are a very beautiful and loyal companion.

What are the restrictions in TV on pet ownership? How many can I have? We have zero right now, but have a friend who has two dogs and would like to move here.
Thanks

My dream dogs are Ben and Jerry. They will be 4 yrs old in Aug. and we got them in Petoskey, MI.
After our second of 2 Shih Tzus passed we thought we would wait a while since losing them was so hard.
We waited 3 months when we found these brothers.
They are a Shih Tzu/ Maltese blend and couldn't be any sweeter. The Maltese in them means they like to bark. Sorry future neighbors.

If you could add a pup to your family...what would you choose? Or if you have already chosen your favorite dog, what is it and why?
A lab of a Golden. Both smart dogs and cousins. I think a lab (less fur) would be better for this climate. Wish my Maggie (yellow lab) was still around with us. She loved car rides and she would have loved driving in the golf cart

Loved the photo of Chester. Besides moving to TV someday, another goal of mine is to be owned by a pug!

2 dogs are fine. You are allowed to move in with 3 (they tell me) and when your third one passes on you aren't allowed to replace it. This is the info I was given as I plan to move in with my 3 and wasn't going to purchase until I had only 2 dogs but it didn't seem to be an issue for anyone. Hope your friend joins you here.

I do. I do have the dog of my dreams. He's the sweetest, most lovable and loving eight (almost) pound Shih Tzu!

He was a palm-sized puppy when I adopted him. DH said, "That's not a dog. that's a gerbil!" Tks, tks. Plus, teasing me and the puppy both, he shook his head and said, "that dog doesn't have any purpose." Said I, "Show me a lap and I'll show you his purpose."

Twas so true. Bogey loves to curl up in our laps and snuggle. He's 8 years old now and DH and I both love him to pieces!

Default Soooo

The dog of your dream is the dog you own!

We transported dogs for years to rescue and I can tell you, I could take every dog home with me by the end of each leg!

I can't walk by a dog without reaching down to pet them. For years I would walk in my hood and pet a particular dog every day. One day a lady in the store said hi to me. *shrug* She recognized me and I had no clue who she was. It wasn't until later that day when I was taking my walk that I realized she was the mommy of the dog I had been petting for so long! I should have looked up! *laughing*

We were owned by Boston Terriers and they were our perfect dog and now we have a Boston and two toy Poodles and Boston Terriers and Poodles are now our perfect dogs. I suspect that if we owned any other dog... it would be our "perfect" dog! But I'm a sucker for any animal. You should see me with snakes and gators!!!

I have a labradoodle named Mulligan. We had a Lab prior to Mulligan and it was also a terrific dog. The Lab temprement and poodle smarts makes a great combination. No matter what kind of dog you have, it's the best. :-))

Angie,
So true-- the dog of your dreams is the one you own. I had to laugh at your story about petting every dog you see and then not recognizing the Mom as I have done the same thing myself before.

Dogs rule.

Oh my, does that picture conjure up a memory. Our first golden, Bear, was 11 and had slowed down quite a bit. We had a sailboat in MI, slipped next to a trawler whose owners had Shotzy, a wire-haired dachshund. Shotzy fell in love with Bear. Bear would snooze out in the cockpit in the afternoon, and Shotzy would park her head on the gunwale of the trawler and stare into our boat at him. For hours on end. I loved that little dog!

We are on our second golden, and Gracie, and he loooooooooooves cats. our son has a cat he hangs out with all the time... and our son has another cat who's outta there in a nano second when he arrives! Go figure. I would love to get Crosby a kitty all his own, but since our last cat died, we got a Cockatiel. It was easy to train the 2nd golden puppy to ignore the bird, but I'm not sure about training a cat to ignore natural prey.

Our two goldens... I can't say enough good about them. Most of it's already been said here. We've only had two dogs, and they have been so loveable and easy to live with. I think that our next dog will have to be smaller due to the age we will be when Croz dies, so all the small-dog descriptions here have really caught my attention.
