I felt the same way when I worked. I had employees that would come into my office and complain about everything. I couldn't understand why they worked there!! No one was holding a gun to their head. Find a better employer that doesn't frustrate you! But they stayed. Well... until I forced some of them out.
Can't do that here... sigh...
I expect you are the exception. And to look at it from another perspective, suppose you like many things about The Villages, but you have pet peeves. Are you supposed to just shut up and not mention them, when you know others feel the same way, and they are things that could be changed or improved if enough people felt that way? I think not. Its the same old argument you hear when people complain about some things in US politics. "If you don't like it, leave the country". To me, that is really disrespectful. I think the real patriots are those who are willing to voice their concerns, and do what it takes to initiate change. In the case of the Villages, it may come down to who we vote for Commissioners, or some such thing. I think its good to get the perceived weaknesses of our community out on display, so we can work on making things better. I just don't understand why people get so antagonistic about those who mention there might be problems.

I love a year ago or so, a guy came on here complaining about life in the villages. Turns out he had rented here 8 years prior for only a month and lives elsewhere in Florida. Why would you follow the forums of a place you hate 8 years after you left it?

There are a dozen (or so) of these on this site.

They are very unhappy people and just troll the site.

Usually you can smell them a mile away.

Just a simple question... If I upset the powers that be, a PM would be appropriate...

As I said, I have no idea who that person is...

True, but I completely get your point...

It's an old joke. A pessimist sees a glass half empty, an optimist sees a glass half full and an engineer sees a glass twice as big as it needs to be!

I've lived in Florida for 66 years. The most irritating and hateful comment that newcomer's can make to us goes something like this: "Why can't I get (fill in the blanks) here? I could get it "back home". That's the comment that could get you the response that "the road you got here on goes both ways"

Happiness is generated from within. It’s the person, not their circumstances. You know…either they are a “glass half full” person, or a “glass have empty”person. It’s not your circumstances that determines happiness, it’s the person the does.

Actually not true. We enjoy some of the stories and complaints we read on this site for humorous reasons. Many days are started out with a good laugh. Keep ‘‘em coming!

No truer words were ever spoken (or written).

I have found that most miserable people have no hope for what happens after this short life is over.
