He was a caddy at the Medinah County Club (late 1940s) where the Ryder Club will be played in a few weeks. Home - Medinah Country Club One of his former college roommates had been playing Medinah and had a bee fly into his Coke can. He had not noticed it on the Coca-Cola can and picked it up to take a swallow. Along with the Coke he also drank the bee which stung him in his throat. Unfortunately, he died at Medinah County Club because his throat swelled up from the bee sting and there were no medics close enough by to save him. |

Looks like it was actually a beer bottle. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1...h-country-club He did not want to do the story about the 1940s Medinah Golf Course because he is reserved and does not remember that much that occurred there in the 40s. That is, that he would want to share with The Villages Daily Sun. Last edited by Taltarzac725; 09-09-2012 at 06:21 PM. |

Once I have the time, I will write to the Daily Sun and tell about my two close friends since third grade who went their own directions in the mid 1970's. The last I heard from one of them is when he went to Viet Nam. The other one moved to NJ. Thirty five years later fate found us all living in The Villages. He have since connected and it is like we never drifted apart.

Once upon a time there was this American GI who was serving his country in another country, He met a girl and fell in love with her. They planned to marry as she became pregnant. He was sent elsewhere and the fiance of the American GI received word that he was wounded or killed in action, she never heard from her GI again. Years later this child now a grown man, contacted me to help find any info on his father. Long story short, I found he did not die, that he was living up until the past decade. This son is now in contact with his American 1/2 sister and is learning all about his father thru her. This is a true story that happed so often. I am happy to be able to give back the piece of the American GI's that they left in other countries so many years ago...
