Cool

On Facebook, Sumter Commissioner Oren Miller said that Sumter County had partnered with GMR for vaccinations and that they were confident they would get 4,000 doses.

Seems to be legit, but I'm not giving them the info they are requesting. I'll wait until CVS, Walgreens and Publix's start giving vaccinations.

Just stay safe and keep wearing your mask....

Every physician's or other medical office I have ever used does ask for SS# and your insurance info. It may not be a hoax. Look into other info about the SafeRestart company and the source of the Daily News for sending the notification.

Thumbs down Scam. Don't ever give out your SS# to anyone online or over the phone.

Definitely something odd going on.

- Some in here have said the site asks for a photo of insurance card, others report no information required

- Google shows it was on the DailySun facebook page but it isn't there now

- Some comments in one of the DailySun facebook posts refer to a notice being on the facebook page but again, it is no longer there

- Still nothing about it on the Sumter County Dept of Health page

If this is legitimate it is a **** poor way to roll it out.

Good for you, there is no reason at all for SS# and I even find the insurance info request questionable.

Default More information

Folks,

I am in no way stating the site is either legitimate or not, but thought I would post this information for folks who may have used the sumterfl.safestart.net site and are now worried about a scam. The information I found seems to corroborate the person who stated SafeStart.net is related to GMR (Global Medical Response), the folks who own AMR ambulances.

I do have over thirty years of IT experience, for what that is worth. I first checked it with databases of known scams and suspicious sites. The site did not appear on any of those.

I then went to the site and chose Step 1 - I need to register for a covid vaccine. The site then took me to a page to authenticate, with the options being text, email, or call. I chose email as that would provide me with more info based on where the email came from.

The email did, in fact, come from GMR.net, which leads me to believe the site is legitimate. Again, I am in no way stating this site is legitimate, or not, I am simply stating to those who did sign up for vaccines via this site that you probably have nothing to worry about.

Regards,
Joe

Apparently people are having success entering 000-00-0000 as their social security number and indicating they have no insurance. This certainly seems like the best alternative. This seems to be legit and the company running it very legit. However, one data breach and someone has all of your contact information, your social and your medicare info.....I don't care how legit they are, I'm not putting that information out there with anyone except my doctor's office.

The villages news should have checked before posting. The us govt does not require any of this info for a vaccine. Beware.

never never give out your ss#. If necessary just use the last 4 numbers of your ss#

There seems to be two sites in this thread. safestart and saferestart. I have not been able to access the safestart site but was able to access the saferestart site where they asked for my SS #. The safestart site was on the front page of the paper this morning.
