I have always felt that TOTV was an informational and at times inspirational vehicle for those who live in The Villages as well as those who one day hope to become Villagers. I recognize that people come from various places with a multitude of experiences that shape their feelings, thoughts and opinions. The sentiments of the posts on this site range from thought provoking, humorous , heart felt, etc. to sometimes of a less desirable nature. This topic brought out some cynicism that surprised me.
Life is a journey with many paths that we travel on. Changes happen and we try to adapt whether retiring, losing a spouse, moving to a new place or getting married for the first time.
I know the happy couple well. They are individuals who anyone would want to have as friends. They are an dynamic couple who you would think have been together for many years. They met, fell in love and got married having a beautiful ceremony.
With over 100,000 people in The Villages, there are only 6 couples a year who marry after meeting in The Villages. That is a small percentage given the size of our current population.
Most people who read the article are happy for Joan & Ed and recognize that true love can happen at any age when you meet your soul mate.
Happy couple in the "Happy Paper" in Florida's Friendliest Hometown...........puts a smile on your face!

IMHO marrying a life long bachelor would be extremely difficult. I have been married 110 years and I'm still working on my other half, cannot imagine what it would be like to marry someone who has never ever had to consider another person.

By the way, I wish them much happiness.
What a wonderful story, I wish the happy couple much happiness.

I'm happy for this response! I don't know the couple but it's really none of our business whether they're going to be happy or not. May God richly bless them in the days and years ahead!!!

That's what I was thinking.

Do you realize that Ed is a member of TOTV??? He's been one of our single friends since he visited to see if he'd want to move here... He's a great dancer too.

Much happiness to them and wishing them long life and good fortune..

His handle was SDGolfer, a member since 08

She must be a very special lady if this man waited so very long to find her. Congratulations to this wonderful couple.

I agree, it's absolutely none of our business. Yet who among us, doesn't love a happy ending? I don't know the blessed couple, but I feel joyful that true love is possible for all of us, no matter what the age or situation!

Yes, Kathy. Ed is a great dancer and one of the better golfers in The Villages. As far as Joan (His wife) goes...she is a great woman and for those who question Ed being faithful, shouldn't. Ed and Joan are a magical couple. Why would he try the rest when he already has the best.
