For the 2nd time in less than 3 months, we lost power in the new section of the Villages near Eastport.
It’s raining, but nothing too torrential. The Villages better work with SECO to get this fixed before they open Eastport. Pathetic. |

How long did you lose power each time. Hours, days weeks? We have a serious lightning storm with an inch of rain so far.

Hours the first time five weeks ago and we’re still without power now. And this “serious lightning storm” is nothing compared to the summer storms.
Do the squares have generators or are they on a separate (??) grid? Because all of Eastport would be dark now too - including the hotel A if it were to be open. How is the infrastructure resiliency this poorly planned? |

Call SECO Monday and ask what the issues are? Did you call them for your outage?

Our first experiences with Seco was 2007. In all our years in TV we may have had a flicker even during Hurricanes.
After moving to 3 different New Villages, we did find out as they added more to the grids the power would be disrupted for safety reasons. Then again in our homes we built up north power was disrupted for the same reason. Usually 3-5 hours, not enough for refrigeration food issues, while utility workers did their jobs. Yesterday one of our northern homes had a power loss for 3 hours, due to animal/bird damage. Which is code for squirrels ate through something. Thankfully most no longer have multiple clocks to reset. Last edited by thelegges; 06-15-2025 at 04:08 AM. |

Before the Turnpike area Homes were built, that area was a total
wetlands area. Running the Electric Supply underground was a challenge, because of the huge junction boxes.. they had a problem with keeping the boxes waterproof. The connections will continue to be a problem.. Florida competes with Ethiopia to be, the Lightning Capital of the World, so prepare for those Violent Storms. I would suggest whole house Voltage Surge protection. You are in for a long haul. stay grounded my friend |

Probably lightning strike, can’t control that.
Want to see live lightning strikes go here Real Time Lightning Map :: LightningMaps.org When I hear big boom close I see where it hit and monitor during lightning storms. |

Power has to come in from some where on pole, if that get hit, no power. I lived in area Oklahoma that had underground power supply. Still lost power when power line transformers was hit by lightning.

The power is out AGAIN (3rd time in 6 weeks). It went out around 4:00 AM and they’re estimating a 2.5 hour restoration.
No word on cause but it’s not storming at all today so anyone defending them should walk a mile the shoes of those of us who keep losing power in homes with $50k bonds. And I pray the geniuses at SECO didn’t try to sneak a maintenance outsge by customers - or even plan work that could cause an outage - without notifying customer. |

I watch a live lightning strike map during storms. We live near Sawgrass. I’m amazed at the amount of strikes south of Meggison near Eastport. It’s actually really weird they are always so concentrated there.
