Default Lost Shopping Cart

Just before leaving TV for the summer, my hubby and I made a trip to WalMart for a few traveling goodies - you know, tootsie rolls - licorice sticks - nuts - gum etc. It was one of those rare buying trips when we walked out of the store without pushing a cart to the car. When we got back to the parking lot there was a shopping cart FULL of food next to our auto and close to the cart return stall. Based on my grocery bills, I'm sure there was well over $150.00 worth products in the cart. I've found items left in shopping carts before but never a load like that!!!
We looked for the owner and watched for several minutes but the shopper had obviously forgotten to load their purchase into the car. I pushed the cart back into the store, when I gave it to the greeter he smiled and said - 'happens all the time'.
Hope the shopper remembered they went to the store and returned for the purchase - how very sad.

That's the first time I've ever heard of anything like this happening. I can see leaving a few things in a cart or maybe your purse but a whole cart load??

That's quite a story and that a Walmart employee said that it happens often.

Good that stores in the Villages ask customers if they need help with getting the cart to the car. I often get this question at Publix even though I look like I could be anywhere from 42 to 60 or so.

It is one of Publix's services no matter your age. I usually ask the if they are looking for a break from packing and if they say yes I let them take it out.

Just the opposite happened to me once. I had a cart full of food, left it for a moment, fortunately I had my purse on my shoulder, came back and it was gone. I looked all over the store, checked with customer service, never found that cart. I imagined that someone got to checkout with a mysterious choice of items!!

I once left an entire cartload by my car but not because I forgot. I'd gotten a call from my daughter's school and had to leave for an emergency. I really didn't care that I had a loaded cart sitting there. Got to the school, got my daughter, discovered there was no real emergency, went back to the store and my cart had not moved an inch from where I left it sitting in the sun (over 100 that day). Of course, most of the food was spoiled.

Honestly, not sure which is worse -- having to leave the cart because of an emergency or forgetting that you had a cart full of groceries and driving away. Hope whomever left it was just distracted and not suffering from something.

That's true that it could have been an emergency. A few years ago, a young woman and her boyfriend brought her Yorkie to Doggie Doo Run Run (DDRR). It was their first time there. She was much younger than most of the people at DDRR and did have fun teasing and such.

She left for the CR466 WalMart to go shopping. Her dog must have got out of the car at WalMart and took off. She came back to the DDRR very upset and asking everyone if she had left her dog at DDRR.

In her grief, she figured out that the dog must have got out of the car when she went shopping at WalMart.

Never did find out what happened with the Yorkie at WalMart. The people at DDRR did have all kinds of suggestions and offers of help to find the pooch though.
