I did hear that once upon a time someone brought their lunch to the pool and wanted to dispose of the wrapper and sadly enough the trash cans were full. They were beside themselves with horror.

[QUOTE=villagetinker;2067212]OK, I never throw junk mail into these trash cans after I saw someone REMOVING mail, think identity theft or similar All of the mail in our mailbox goes home looked at and trashed at home or shredded as necessary.[/QUO

Meanwhile, back at the postal station: trash cans are for trash. Junk mail is trash. The only time that's a problem, is when the can is full and people pile more on top of an already-full can. Often, they can EASILY get more in that trash can by simply placing their largest piece of junk mail flat on the top of the pile, and using a closed fist, pressing the entire pile DOWN deeper into the can. They don't have to touch anyone else's stuff, just that one piece of their own mail. I do this often. Turns out - most of the time, that bag isn't even half-filled and there's PLENTY of room for more. |
