I did hear that once upon a time someone brought their lunch to the pool and wanted to dispose of the wrapper and sadly enough the trash cans were full. They were beside themselves with horror.

Then what exactly are they there for?

Why do I care how many times THEY have to empty a trash can? Trash cans are there for trash. I got an idea, remove them and then see what a mess that would be.

Another way you could do it is if it is bulk mail with no address on it just mail it again & let the PO get rid of it. Hate to say this but thatβs what I do!

[QUOTE=villagetinker;2067212]OK, I never throw junk mail into these trash cans after I saw someone REMOVING mail, think identity theft or similar All of the mail in our mailbox goes home looked at and trashed at home or shredded as necessary.[/QUO

I've always been amazed at people who stand out in the blazing heat or freezing cold to sort their mail when they could be doing it at home in air conditioned or heated comfort.

When bored, I use all prepaid return envelope from advertisers to send as much junk back as I can stuff in envelope.
Costs advertiser the postage, and helps keep postal workers in a job. |

Meanwhile, back at the postal station: trash cans are for trash. Junk mail is trash. The only time that's a problem, is when the can is full and people pile more on top of an already-full can. Often, they can EASILY get more in that trash can by simply placing their largest piece of junk mail flat on the top of the pile, and using a closed fist, pressing the entire pile DOWN deeper into the can. They don't have to touch anyone else's stuff, just that one piece of their own mail. I do this often. Turns out - most of the time, that bag isn't even half-filled and there's PLENTY of room for more. |
