The eye of the storm is just about due east of TV now.
Up to this point we have not seen anymore wind or rain than we would during a spring thunderstorm.

There may be a little more to come as the eye moves North and we get the bands of weather afterwards.

It was stated on WESh this morning that the storm has been on a track a little more easterly than forecast, hence most wind speeds thus far on land have been noteably less than forecast.

Let's hope all remains for the balance of time the storm threatens our neighbors and states north of us.

The reason is no one knows what the storm is going to do, and the powers that be have to make a call early on. Safety is always the best tact to take, and the employees of all the establishments we are not happy with being closed have families and homes they may have needed to take care of during the storm and after. We had this same issue when I worked at FedEx. People forgot during these times that we, too, had homes and family to take care of and worry about. Thankfully, FedEx got that.

Aren't we all lucky to have that "what's the big deal feeling"............. after the event is over?

Plan for the worst...hope for the best...and like most of us residents looking out the window this morning, count our blessings!!

IMO the Weather Channel and Emergency Management folks are doing a fabulous job.

We've been blessed so far here in TV. Others are concerned for their survival...not their Friday pizza. Namaste.

Not much in the Santo Domingo region . A little more wind gusts and rain. We are truly counting our blessings as well and happy I have plenty of rum.

I think and hope we've seen the worst of it, for South part amyway.
There is a vine on my lamp post with delicate blooms that are dancing a bit, but not coming off.

So far, so good in Charlotte. Coaxed the dog outside despite the heavy rains, telling him "Hey, at least it isn't a cold rain!"

The next three hours will tell the tale around here. Fingers crossed.

Exactly. Having had Charley pass over my home in 2004, I'd rather be over prepared and inconvenienced for a meal, than live thru that again. That storm was supposed to come no where near us! Thankfully we were still ready. As I will be every time there is a threat.

Guess we were spared.
