I was just watching the webcam from Brownwood - and saw a golf cart drive by. Looks like it's raining with windy conditions.
Hopefully, a little rain and wind is all you get.

Wind gusts are picking up here. The only damage I see so far is a lot of leaves and moss on the street.

Southern Trace area: light rain and wind is around 26 mph according to my weather station.

Also, SECO shows a few outages in Sumter, but nothing is widespread.

It seems to be getting worse. Is there any way to find out wind speed here in the Villages? Both sustained and gusts.

Hi GolfGirl122,

I just want to say thank you for starting this thread and for giving it an absolutely perfect title.

We are away from our TV home at this time and I have been trying to monitor what's going on through the national news and television reporting. But that is generalized and time-consuming.

The kind of reporting you started here is just what we need. Also, thank you to everybody who is joining in to help. Direct, anecdotal information sure is nice to have for us (sometimes) long-distance owners.

Last night I read a comment from someone who suggested that people remove their lamp post name signs for fear of wind damage. Hubby and I were out this am and noticed quit a few people took heed and did this. This would ONLY be a good Idea IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER HOUSE NUMBER attached VISIBLY ATTACHED TO YOUR HOME, MANY DID NOT! Hopefully everyone remains safe, my husband was a former first responder and he just shook his head. How are the responders going to locate you without a HOUSE#! Please use common sense when trying to save a few bucks, the first responders are trying to save your lives!

Good point. However, I suppose one could take the sign down and put it in their front window.

The wind is definitely picking up now. A lot more gusts than before but just a little rain. I don't see any damage to anyone's house from my windows so that's good news for those who are out of town.

Drove around in the cart about an hour ago. Things look pretty good in general. Lots of dead palm branches in Mallory parking lot

If you venture out beware of palm branches on path, I had to clear my way once...

Definitely some significant gusts now compared to earlier here in Pennecamp. Hopefully this is the worst of it coming through now and things will quiet down by later this afternoon.

Up here in the Chatham/Lopez area. Wind and rain but nothing serious. We are lucky.
