Historic side : A couple of a neighbors palm fronds in the front yard. A pile of tree branches in the back yard. No damage to the house and roof. The Villages covers such a wide, long area that the winds may have gusted stronger in the southern parts of The Villages as compared with the northern parts.

I’m glad your home was built better than some they make now. A 2 year old house (Lantana 10 model) a couple blocks from us lost about a quarter of their shingles. They probably did a better job on the older homes.

No, they didn’t always do a better job. During Irma, many of my neighbors homes lost singles, some enough they had a new roof installed. With Milton, same thing. The gust were below what the roof should have been able to endure. I lost some shingles.

I'm Wildwood too just South of 44. I have SECO and electricity never went off during these Hurricanes since I was here for Ian in 2022. My sister in Bradford had hers go off during Helene (wasn't here for Milton) but it went back on after an hour. She also has Leesburg. Different company, different grid, lives 10 min away.

I would not blame the shingle installers...Maybe the shingles suck.
Does anyone really believe the specs from the shingle manufactures?
Maybe a class 4 like Malarkey Vista AR shingle would hold up better.

Or maybe the velocity of the wind gusts? How can it be the same for every loss if shingle event?

The Certainteed shingles claim 110 MPH. We were not even close to that.
