What has been reported is there will be a software change, not the readers themselves. That should not necessitate the gate arms being down for weeks.

it doesn't require agressive speed bumps..... speed humps are much more effective on the vehicle suspension without breaking rims and such. go take a well laid speed hump at 15 or 20 sometime and enjoy the ride..... not good.

Terrible idea hate speed bumps. Not to mention slow down fire trucks and ambulances? Why would you want to do that.

Well, speed bumps just might help to cut back on the NEED for ambulances.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

You contend the issue is at the point where the road splits from 2 to 4 lanes, no gate and no one stops @ sign.

How is this any different than many, many other intersections when a road splits from 2 to 3 or 4 lanes???

Example: Right at the same intersection.......466 traveling East or West, the road splits from two lanes and there are no gates prior to the split (& no stop signs).

The issue is the area on Morse Blvd. approaching 466 traveling south. Before Morse splits from 2 lanes to 4 … getting closer to 466 (prior to Hurricane Ian) there have always been gate arms … it’s purpose I think is to slow traffic approaching a dangerous intersection. Those gate arms haven’t returned. They placed 1 stop sign on the right side of the road. An hour after my 1st call to Community Watch a stop sign was added on the left side. The problem… no one stops. I have literally watched ( from my golf cart in a safe distance from that area) well over 100 cars travel through without braking let alone stop. I stop … and several times have had tailgaters to have to apply their brakes in a hurry! It’s a bad accident waiting to happen! Shame on Community Watch for not doing a better job at monitoring and remedying that part of Morse! Have at it.
We had the same situation at both ends of Southern Trace. But as of yesterday the new company has replaced the gate arms at both locations. Have a little patience. There are a lot of gate arms and other hardware that need to be transitioned. It just didn't make sense to replace damaged or missing hardware that was going to be replaced anyway.

When and how bad was the last wreck there? If bad or often, put up a new gate or light. If nothing... take all the useless crap drown as it obviously isn't needed to maintain a safe flow of traffic.

… the issue is ‘stop signs’ that few are adhering to … I also think they should remove them … it is an accident waiting to happen.

"Removing a stop sign because most people don't stop"..................not a good concept.

An observation: In Denver, and possibly other places, stop lights are installed on entrances to expressways. They are red when a vehicle approaches and then turn green long enough to allow the vehicle through. After the vehicle leaves, they turn red until another vehicle arrives. They stay red for a few seconds. Not sure if cameras are involved or tickets are issued but the Denver folks obey these to the letter.

The stop signs are only “useless” because we’ve become a community of law breakers in every small way possible. The “rules don’t apply to me” mentality is pervasive here. Try and drive 35 mph on Buena Vista or Morse south of 466. Bikers run every stop sign and some red lights. Carts are speeding and driving aggressively on the cart paths. Lawn ornaments are pervasive and now political signs are popping up in scattered locations. Every one of these examples show a deliberate and intentional violation of the laws and rules we agreed to. Each separate act contributes to the decline and collapse of our community.

… the stop signs are really not necessary at that location… I just drove thru that area 15 minutes ago. None of the 7 cars ahead of me stopped. The ‘guy’ behind me stopped. The other three didn’t. I don’t feel safe stopping … but I do. I’d love to see Sumter County enforce it … write some tickets… get the word out that running the stop could be costly.

Well the good thing is........................if you were going 30 mph, decelerating up to the stop sign, applying brakes gently and your brake lights work...................and if the driver behind you is not paying attention..............it should be nothing more than a minor bump.

The gate arms in question are not affected by the card reader issue, since they automatically open when a car is approaching. The reason the gate arms are not up has to be for some other reason. That said, I really see no need for the arms except to make it easier for people to perform a u-turn from the northbound lanes into the southbound lanes. Otherwise there is no more of a hazard as people slow down approaching the this intersection than any other intersection controlled by signal lights.
