I have no dog in this fight as I don't own any type moped or scooter.... But having traveled the trails for over eight years by golf cart I can say this with confidence. If you took off all the golf cars on the trail that exceed 20mph, you would have less than half of em' left to travel on the trails. That's a fact.

We can call them golf carts but they really aren't. And that's a fact.

My point is---they are a 4 wheel vehicle mode of transportation and even 20mph is too fast and considered unsafe on a golf course.

OP, technically they are illegal but probably not enforced on the trails just like over half of the so called golf carts.

We have a street legal and we've been passed by "regular" un-licensed golf-carts before. Not our problem....especially if they get ticketed!

I have an LSV and two 49cc scooters which are legal on our multi-modal trails and they have excellent brakes. None of my vehicles can keep pace with a standard Yamaha golf cart with the governor pushed all the way up (average 35mph per TV mechanics.) I overheard a guy at the pickleball courts yesterday saying his Yamaha cart can do 42 mph as verified by his GPS. These vehicles have brakes designed to slow carts running 12mph. Maybe the new engine braking systems can stop them a few feet sooner. I don't know about that. A golf cart running between 30-40mph also screws up the perspective of autos turning right across the golf cart lanes since they close the distance much faster than expected.

I can help with the gumbo.

Are LSVs required to have a better braking system than standard golf carts?

It's not important but I wrote a satirical reply post about your peeves that was deleted. It started out "You have no right wanting my dog to be afraid of Al Gore!" and it rapidly went down hill. I don't mind getting cut for "not funny." I do that myself sometimes.

As for mopeds don't effect me my moped soup-up just like the golf carts and can break 50MPH with 3 hp motor. Any golf carts want to drag race?
