Accessibility via golf carts to life's ammenities both fun wise, medically and retail wise for over 55's is/was the draw to The Villages... hence "The Bubble". Who needs a car? So three theaters was a draw for oldsters wanting to entertain the grand or great grand kids. T V lifestyle, adult Disneyland.

Promise the kids the Disney experience and remove Mickey Mouse and the princesses and all the rides and see how the crowd responds (not that I care about Disney you can have it) but point is The Villages has misrepresented the theater element since about 2020.

Default Worth the drive for Oppenheimer

I second your vote for Brownwood.

In the meantime, take a drive to see the movie. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

Can theaters sustain the so-called 'Barbie boost' at the box office? : NPR

While T V may have fixed their on paper marketing it's a little late for those who were sold on a theater being at Brownwood (amungst other things of course).

What does the trolley tour continue to say about the theater?

Let's be generous. 3,500 petition signers spending $10 one a week to watch a movie at a theater.

That's $35,000 gross revenue a week.

That's not enough revenue to pay the costs of running a theater and pay the studios enough for a first run movie.

Actually it probably is enough but lets be honest almost none of the signees will come once a week.

If the movie studios produced good quality movies maybe the theaters would be popular. Who wants to pay exorbitant money for tickets and popcorn to watch some of the garbage now being passed off as entertainment.

Killers of the Flower Moon (film - Wikipedia)

This might be a very worthwhile movie. The book of the same name was extremely well written and researched.

Even Disney closed more than a few attractions that proved to be unprofitable...

The Equalizer 3 - Rotten Tomatoes

Lots of exciting movies coming out this year as far as I can tell. Hard to know because of the strikes by Hollywood workers.

Movies take quite awhile after being written to be produced and distributed to theaters. Thinking we will not see any effect till next year

True. But hopefully they will be up- and- running soon.

They do not seem to be talking so think this will be going on and on and on.

Luckily for us there is enough for us to watch via streaming services.

The theaters should be turned over to the recreation department. If this was done the theaters would not have to make a large profit, just brake even, and we would get our theaters back. The Villages are still using “three theaters” as a selling point, when in actuality there is only one operating and that one does not operate every day. There is also some kind of comedy club in that theaters lobby.
