We had about the same amount of furniture that you mention. We rented a Penske truck, hired a local moving company to load it (we did all the box packing) and a local company here to unload it. I drove it down from VA taking one overnight. New rucks like this are very easy to drive especially if you take it easy and are not in a hurry.

I remember when we moved rates went up at a certain time. I don't remember if it was May or June but we managed to squeeze into the lower rate by moving the last day of the month.

Used large POD on our move from Worcester,MA Took one bedroom set, washer dryer,
patio furniture, tools clothes and plants etc. 2012 cost about $3200. PoDS stored in Ocala for two weeks and delivered when we called and left pod for four days. basically same cost as renting 26' truck. Cost higher than usual because everything was going down to NJ because of Hurricane Sandy. |

Used Allied, no problem.
I would consider POD's if you can load and unload. Also possible to get help at this end. |

We moved from Western Mass. Rent a Budget truck and save yourself a lot of money!

We used a POD and had Village Mover unload. Would highly recommend both.

From Attleboro MA we used ABF. You (call relatives and friends) load (you have 3 days), lock your area of truck and pay by the foot, you or hire help to unload (you have 3 days).
We brought same as you, bedroom set, small cafe set, leather wing chair and lamps and end tables and lots of boxes. Took our time buying furniture but had a place to sit, eat and sleep in the meantime. We bargained with furniture stores out of The Villages and bought floor models. Saved a bundle. Good luck and safe travel. |

I'm with the group that believes it's better to get rid of the old stuff and buy new. The cost will be the same. Of course, if you really love your furniture, that might hard to do.There are so many stories of people who have moved and found they brought too much stuff and had to work that much harder, to get rid of it.
Moving to another state is made more difficult, as we all have a hard time decided what to take and what to get rid of. Decision is up to you! Moved with my toothbrush! Easy peasy!

Many bring too much stuff. A lot of garage sales are the result.

Sell your furniture and by new here. You'll find that it's a very different lifestyle down here and that includes different styles and type of furniture.
You won't get much for used furniture but what you do get coupled with the savings in not having to move it will offset the expense of new stuff.
