I could post this on the thread about "growing up in the 50s and 60s" but I'll post it here instead. I was born in '53, and in the late 50s we had the lady every neighborhood has, the grouchy one who had nothing to do in her life but look out the window to make sure she saw when one of us kids stepped in her yard, and she lived next door.. I was the "baby" of the neighborhood so when the ball went in her yard the older kids would send me to fetch it, with the reasoning that "she won't yell at you because you are just little." They were wrong about that, BTW.

In August of '59 my dad's job took him overseas, along with the rest of the family, for 9 months. I remember being surprised at her and her husband coming out and giving us such a friendly send-off as we packed up and moved on. I mentioned it. My dad said, "believe me, Sport, they're just thrilled to see us go."

I still remember that lady, because so many posters on TV remind me of her.

I’ve owned pets throughout my life, and it never let them go to the bathroom and someone else’s yard.
Walk down to their yard and take a big Crap on their Lawn.

Default Disgusting

Sat in chair at Sumter Landing by Radio Station. Watched a number of dog owners let their
Dog pee by the trees. A while later watched 2 workers for The Villages get down on their
knees and weed where the dogs had done their business. Disgusting..These are lazy owners who are without any consideration for others.

Default Pups

To start with, I’d take a bullet for any of our Pups but I doubt I’d have to just because! Our Pups mean more to me than People do………. We have fenced in yards N&S but, we do walk our Pups now and again. And when we walk them they do relieve themselves in someone else’s yards at times and we pick it up……. So if your pup has never used someone else’s yard to relieve themselves one of two things, you’ve never walked your dog on leash off your property or you put diapers on your Pup!!! Just remember one major thing, it’s Never the Pups fault, it’s always the Owners Fault!

Well I hate to break it to you but you have moved into the dog poop capital of the world . Do your due diligence and do a search on doggie doo discussions on this format alone. IMO the #1 from el perro should get more attention because it actually kills grass. This ain’t Alabama bro

Well said. Life is short and even shorter at the age we take up residence here. Our dog will poop and we pick it up. Never on someone’s grass however

That should be the least of your problems. As long as they pick up. Everybody wants a stress free life. Getting yourself stressed over something so petty. If this is so stressful to you, maybe you'll want to consider living in a Co-op, or Condo.

If you are new to The Villages, why can't you be surprised about corner lots being used as toilets? This is not normal anywhere else. How would the new buyer have such knowledge ahead of time.

I see neighbors guide their pets from their front door, keeping them on their sidewalk and driveway, and then once they exit their property, the leash become a 25' leader and the dog walks wherever it wants.

My neighbor has a corner lot and I call him the Mayor of S-Town. People loosen their leaders to let dogs walk the entire length of the leash into the neighbors yard. I've seen dogs within 7-10' of the neighbors lanai (with them sitting outside in it) and letting the dog do it business. Luckily they come into the yard and bag it, but it must be aggravating to not have privacy in your yard or lanai.

They use every and any argument they can think of to justify their rude, selfish and self-entitled behavior.
I also have a corner lot, so I understand your frustration. So many seem to believe that breaking laws, being respectful of their neighbors, or being truly responsible pet owners allows that, if they haven't been told otherwise, they can do anything they please. I have confronted a few of these folks over the years, and you wouldn't believe the self-righteous indignation and out right aggression I have faced from most of them. Sadly, the rule against posting signs in your yard prevents us from "keep off the lawn" or "no dogs" signs. That, imo, should be an allowable exception, since it might help avoid nasty confrontations that could have the potential of becoming dangerous.
It is often difficult to realize that the dog is not the problem. The problem is the self-entitled or oblivious owner.

We tried our best to warn potential buyers about this.

Before the wonderful new walking/biking trails were put in the Southern Area, we used to go down there and ride our bikes through the areas where they were building new homes. Whenever we saw a potential buyer looking at a corner lot, we would warn them that they would get a lot of dog crap in their yard.

Sometimes they took us seriously, but usually they didn't.

Don't be sorry.

Like with religion or politics, some people are so tied to their belief/disbelief on a matter that there is no logic -- there is no debate.

We considered the small lots and the heat when considering moving here with small dogs.

In my neighborhood, we have a blue-tick hound, a lemon white walker, a greyhound, and a doberman. For different reasons, these described dogs are bit much for 4k - 8k square foot lots -- even if you have a fenced yard.

The blue-tick can be heard baying from 2 blocks away when left in the yard or in the lanai. I cannot image the bag size for the potty break clean-ups in the neighbor's yard.

I have never been around so many people adverse to animals. I have had a dog my whole life. My dog goes to the bathroom in my yard. When I walk him him pretends to pee 12 times all the way around the block. He is 5 pounds. Yes he lifts his leg nothing comes out. I pick up his marbles. I guess I always lived in much more tolerant places. I get sick of hearing about it. I guess when you put a bunch of elderly people in one place you get all the crabby worry worts concentrated. I would not know if a dog peed in my yard. I do not watch out my windows 24/7. I will not feel bad about my opinion. I guess I just do not have time to worry about it. It’s like every 2 weeks on here.
