I've never seen an ad for TV and I'm not a golfer. I learned of it from an on-line friend. She's not a golfer, either. She heard of it from a friend who did in fact hear of TV through an ad.

The IRS issue won't be settled for years, if at all typical. The ruling is just the first stage -- next comes the Morse's demanding a trial in tax court. Then, whichever side loses will demand an appeal. So, we really have no idea of what the outcome will ultimately be and many of us won't be alive to see that outcome.

TV won't die without ads -- word of mouth has brought many here and will continue to do so.

if demand is sufficient to support the expected sales in TV then why would/should the developer spend money to advertize?

When TV is built out....the ever elusive objective as TV continues to buy up property.....why would there be a need for the Lifestyle visit program....another future customer accomodation by the developer to encourage sales.

We could also worry about the rising waters of the ocean and the gulf's effect on TV future....good by the way as it will become a waterfront retirement community.

If you're nervous maybe you should first rent for a couple of years. That way, you can see 1st hand what goes on in TV and then make your decision.
My wife and I love it here and we looked for years (before we retired). I would say (my opinion) if you don't like it here I don't think you'll like it anywhere.

Oh, and after all that looking, TV was declared the winner by a huge margin.

More than 40 years ago. Spring Hill Fl. Look it up. Only been here 7 years. The changes are hard to believe. I still don't want to be anywhere else. Except maybe the ocean.( that's another story) I feel you fear. Maybe not a reality. But I do feel it

Were you nervous to live where you do now? What if no new houses are built there?
Is there a lifestyle visit available where you are?
Sounds like you may have not moved often and that leads to you nervousness and you are looking for reasons not to leave familiar surroundings and that's OK.
You'd be surprised how many people have heard of TV and no need for a LSV.

I have mentioned this before but I will again. It is very common for folks to have a few nervous "spells" when in the midst of a major life change and move. It was hard for me at first to believe that this place was "for real". It seemed entirely too good to be true and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop.

It is very hard work physically and emotionally to pack up our belongings and get rid of things we thought we needed and paid good money for. It is hard to leave the place that we have lived, often the place of our birth for different customs, climate, peer group and lifestyle.

Any person versed in human behavior will tell you that each change has a point value and if you put them all together it spells out a lot of STRESS and an uneasy feeling.

You named valid issues that we all have worried about. I can only speak for me and Sweetie. This Ohio girl who would NEVER live in Florida loves it here in The Villages. Sweetie is finally able to relax and distance himself from the goal setting, hard working person he once was. I love seeing him so happy.

I sincerely hope that you too will find your share of happiness here.

I am betting you will.

Kindest wishes,
Gracie.

I understand the nervousness. My questiion is do we have a calender to renovate the club houses, recreation centers, swimming pools, ect. after so many years and are we putting money aside to do these cost yearly? If we are we will be in good shape once the builders move on if not big trouble ahead in the years to come.

Thanks for looking but I still don't see where someone said LSV's are ending.

I should have put in my full thought - now the village sales agents sell 150 pre-owned each month plus 300 new. After build out they might sell 400 pre-owned a month, and that is a lot of commission dollars. I doubt anyone will walk away from that.

I didn't buy as a financial investment, I bought for my future.

Sorry, should have put my glasses on, it was post #6. See below.

I called my agent. She stated that the "Home order Stay" is just that. You have already purchased your lot & are there to order your home. The lifestyle stay in November is $125.00 per nite while the HO stay is a 4-7 nite stay @ $75.00 per nite, golf cart included, no other freebies because you may not have free time during the day. If you want to be able to golf, ect. you might look at renting a villa. Most rentals are by the month, however some, like mine, rent during the off season by the week( just a little promo there). In any case, my realtor advises that we should look for the "Lifestyle" stays to be elinanated in the near future. I wish you luck and can tell you, you will love the villages. .....

TV is a small urban area comprised of 100,000 people. Those people spend their money on all the things people spend money on in any city in America resulting in a thriving business community both in TV and surrounding TV. The developer has a vested interest in the success of TV long after the build out is completed because he owns banks, insurnace companies, golf cart business, etc. He also has as a thriving real estate business focusing on resales and owns (and leases at a prime rate) much of the retail space in TV.
