Default New gate signs

Has anyone noticed the new gate signs going up? Ours says "No Pedestrians". I saw one in Mallory, as well. That's not such a big deal in Mallory since you can walk out using the cart path. In our village, the cart path is outside the gate. In essence, we can't walk from inside our village to outside our village without crossing private property. I think that's odd. It means we can't walk for the mail. Our mailboxes are outside of our village. I understand it's a safety issue, but it's not impossible to make a careful exit out of our gate when on foot.

Hmmmmmmmmmm....... let's say I lived in TV and wanted to take a walk to the nearest shopping center to window-shop or purchase a couple of items. Are all the stores INSIDE TV ? I guess some stores are outside. According to the signs... am I not allowed to walk in and out ?

I'm so CORN-FUSED :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

Coney. You can walk around most anywhere, but it is really better to take a golf cart, because sometimes it is a LONG walk. Sam is talking about the village she lives in, I think Bridgeport, a beautiful village of Premier homes. It appears that to get to the mail area you must go across someone's lawn or property. Sam will explain. I didn't know their mail area is on the outside of their village.

CIBabe,
When you make your first visit to TV I would suggest that you NOT rent a golf car but use the automobile you will probably arrive in (either your own, your daughter's, or the rental car picked up that the airport). It is true that TV is golf car-friendly but that is for folks who are a little more familiar with the trails and the golf car, itself. The first time I visited I did not rent a golf car and it turned out, for me, to be the right decision. With a "regular" automobile you can cover more territory in less time and you won't be intimidated to visit the mini-malls around the outskirts of TV, itself.

By the time your first visit is concluded you'll be more inclined to use a golf car the next time you visit because you'll have more knowledge of the area.

The gate at Belvedere has one of these going to and from CR466. Think that is really strange as people walk to the Villages Public Library past the Belvedere Gate and there is a sidewalk on the east side of the Belvedere Gate. Seems like another mess up with a sign to me as far as the Belvedere Gate is concerned.

Gracie, We pick up our mail over @ Bridgeport @ Lake Miona. Bridgeport @ Lake Sumter has no mail boxes or pool inside the village.

tkret....... THANKSalot for the excellent advice; I'd already come to the same conclusion because from everything I've read on TOTV, there is some skill and knowledge involved in golf-cart riding

And, perhaps I'll find some hospitable TVer to escort my daughter and I, in his/her golf cart, for us to get a feeling of what it's like; that's if/when we do our first Lifestyle Preview this winter, or next spring :dontknow:.

CIB:

The stores are mainly built along highways (441/27 East side, 42 North side, 466A South side, 466 Old South side now East/West road in Center of TV, West side is near 301) that TV was built adjacent to. LSL is completely inside TV and not on a highway (466 is close by).

Thank you chuckinca for that clarification.

I guess if/when the time comes for me to relocate to TV that will be another consideration.... walkable access to some form of civilization (stores, restaurants, rec center & pool)..... to add to my list of things to avoid = train noise, sewer smell, sinkholes, ghetto pool, gas lines in ceiling. Did I miss anything ?

Negative Post :cop: shoo! It's just a teeny-weenie bit of scarcasm, not meant to ruffle anyone's feathers :

chuckinca.... YES, "Jack" is a 1-1/2 year-old Rat Terrier. He's a rambunctious handfull! If you're familiar with the breed.... any training tips??

Oh.... oh..... Off-Topic :cop: I'm thinking of starting a new topic in the Pet Forum for TRAINING TIPS. We can take it there

Ahem.... back to the topic What exactly does this sign mean? I mean by it's position and location, does it mean no pedestrians entering that particular village? No pedestrians leavining? We are walkers (as in exercise walkers) and we were staying in Belvedere and we walked out of the village and then some. Probably 3-4 miles. Do you mean this is no longer permitted? It sounds strange for a no pedestrian sign in the villages.
