rsredd1654....

I posted that a taxi ride will cost $5.00. I had called the Villages Shuttle Service to verify that information before I posted it.

You referenced my post and said "not good information".

Then Bexter posted to confirm that a taxi ride will cost $5.00

In future, before you correct members who have posted, I suggest that you get your facts straight and make sure your information is current and correct.

Perhaps it depends on where in The Villages you live. Free delivery is an even better deal than a $5 taxi ride!

The Airport Van, aka Yellow Cab, was the alternative if your plane arrived at Orlando late in the evening. One time we flew in from Seattle and a couple boarded the Airport Van pleading to be dropped off first in Stonecrest because they'd had a long flight from Chicago. They didn't get their wish, but that's what can happen on the Airport Van. If your flights allow, The Villages Van is more predictable.

Friendly driver, nice vehicle, and always on time.

I only used The Village Van once. They were OK, but I was annoyed that they were over an hour and a half late to pick us up. We had arrived on time from a very late flight (that is why we used them) and when we got downstairs they were not there. I called them and they said they were on the other side of the airport awaiting another incoming flight. They said they would be picking us up in 20 minutes. The other flight was delayed so they didn't pick us up for 90 minutes. The last thing I want to do when coming in from a late night flight is wait 90 minutes prior to the hour+ ride to TV. Aside from that, they were OK--driver was friendly, van was OK.
Lessons learned --- dont take night flights --arrange for your own limo hopefully they will pick you up on time -- hope "YOUR" future flights are all on time !!

I have used the shuttle several times and I think it is the best. For $5 more they will drop you off at your residence and they will also pick you up there if you are going to airport. My daughter is also coming to TV in April and I am making a reservation on the shuttle.

Default shuttle/van/??

Can somebody please clarify what exactly these different entities are called? They have been referred to quite differently in several posts, and I'm now confused as to which is which and which one everyone seems to be in favor of. I might need to use one soon. Thanks for any help.

The Villages Shuttle Service is a nice way to greet visitors in your golf cart and then take them on a little tour of the Town Square.

The Village Airport Van will pick up up at your home or deliver you to your home. We used it often as when FIreboy was commuting, he would often arrive on the red-eye flight. The Village Airport Van runs 24 hours a day, on request, not on a fixed schedule. Whether you are a resident or not. However this is a VAN, not a TAXI. They would like to fill up a few seats before they make a run, and that takes longer to do in the middle of the night. So you may have to wait for a while as planes come in during the night. To use this service during the night, you will need patience. But it is much cheaper than a limo if you're travelling alone, unless there are a bunch of friends travelling together.
In my humble opinion, of course.

In addition to Barefoot's descriptions above, here are the website links for them.

The Villages Transportation — Orlando International Airport Shuttle Service this is the one that picks up and drops off at the two squares

Village Airport Van this is the one that picks up and drops off at your home

Default I've used both services

The Villages Shuttle (the one that picks up and drops of at the town squares) is more comfortable. The shuttles have rows of 2 generous seats on either side of a center aisle. Very roomy. More like a mini-motor coach. The other service, Villlage Airpot Van (aka Yellow van--for yellow stripe on the side) uses multi-passenger vans in which people have to kind of crawl over each other to get into and out of the rear seats.

Default me no travel

I'm not a traveler, especially on the highways to MCO. The shuttle will be best for all of us. Thanks for all of your input! The Villages Shuttle it is!
