Could be potential squatters! Vacant properties are ripe targets.

We get 1-2 / month to our Indiana address. House is very similar in age, location but a 3-2 and no pool with power line run/preserve in back.

We get phone calls. I would truly like to know how they are getting our phone number. Does anyone worry about this and maybe wonder if they will come back to their home, and someone be living there? You never know now a days. Maybe I am just overthinking it.

We started getting them 2 years ago after we sold and bought a different house in the villages. Phone calls, assume public records from closing. Sometimes hang up, sometimes talk with them for a while to waste their time.

We have multiple homes, north and TV. Our sons have also inquired about buying. It’s the person who becomes your rep, and their office staff. We receive mail at our northern home from our rep, for birthdays, and fun info about his family, and TV news. NO sell items ever arrive. Our sons receive birthday cards, and the family fun updates and TV news, couple times a year. Nothing on selling.
I will say it’s their office staff lack of updates, and how much they waste trees. We bought a preowned home, the previous owner was the TV sales rep sister. We still get his birthday cards, and crap to list our home, in previous owners name, from his sister. It’s been since 2014.

They get your information to contact you by all those free cruise drawings you entered to "win".

These things seem to come in waves. Realtors may be looking on behalf of a client inquiry (as in, someone rented your house for the season and is interested in buying it). Realtors looking over short inventory of homes on market may be randomly casting the net (after all, Villagers on average move 3 times or something like that). Flippers looking to flip your home. The list goes on. With email you can try unscubscribing. With snail mail, you can mark the envelope "return to sender." That "may" result in you being removed from that mailing list but not others. It's pest control at the end of the day and annoying. If you feel like it, you could contact the realtor/company directly and ask to be removed from their prospect list. Or you could just chuck it all out and get on with your day. I have been distressed recently after acting as executor of my sister's estate to keep getting these "compassionate" letters offering to "repair and sell her home." These are just flippers with no idea of condition of home, etc. Eventually the letters stopped coming each week. So, yeah. You are not alone if that helps.

You own a desirable home in a desirable area. It is easy to access a public record that shows your home address and property address. Think about it this way: Someone sends out 500 mailings and 1 person responds favorably. I did this in Baltimore and bought a house for $50k, painted it and sold it 90 days later for $165k. Not a bad return for 500 mailings, no? BTW, the people that sold me the house were very happy to be done with it. Moral of the story: Be one of the 499 throwing it in the trash if you are not interested and count your blessings that you own two desirable homes. |

I split my time and get none of these mailings. Somehow they got your info.

I get multiple phone calls everyday about selling. Cards in the mail as well. These investors just cast a broad net with nothing in particular in mind hoping someone will bite.

I believe them to be mailing lists, hoping someone will call so they have a new lead and maybe get a listing maybe get a Refinance. Don’t think I’ll refi my 2.9% or sell our lovely home we bought as a Turnkey years ago.

I have three houses in the villages. I’ve never once got an offer to buy one of the houses. But I have received multiple offers to buy my lot. They don’t do much homework. But for what it’s worth, I’m looking to buy another rental in the villages as well. So Let me throw a quick ad out if anybody’s looking to sell around Lake Sumter, please let me know. 😁

To the original poster,
You should stay North (global warming) and let me buy your CDD 1 house for a deep discount....haha. Anyways, The Villages has become over-saturated in rental "investment" properties in the past few years. The residents hate short-term rentals. Corporations and LLCs are buying for 100% rental, not seasonal. As interest rates rise, this wave should slow down... I'll be looking to buy a courtyard villa North of 466... Good replies here! |

We are Northerner's too. We get them. No idea the answers to your other questions. I can tell you that I have friends in Sun City and they get bothered at least 3-4 times more than we do.
