Perhaps, a current thought process. Or perhaps an always thought process. People say, demand, expect PERFECTION. Reality, it has never and will never exist.

LOL.... yes, all those people wandering around in the wind and rain certainly could have been hit by flying fronds.

I agree with you - all the palms should be trimmed by the villages landscaping as part of keeping the villages up to par. The trees were a mess and the hurricane was God’s way of trimming them back

I cannot believe so many are attacking FROSE, who just voiced his/her opinion. Why? Are we not abe to be speak freely on this site? I think some posters just wait for a post they can criticize. My mother always taught us, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything". Just sayin'. I'm breaking her rule right now, I know, but I must defend FROSE.

They are called bearded palms for a reason, that'stheir nickname. You do not trim them. Yes. They will drop palm fronds in high winds, but they are supposed to be left untrimmed for the health of the palm. Look it up.

They are not supposed to be trimmed, they are nicknamed bearded palms. If you trim them, they weaken and die.

We’ve been having minor storms in the afternoons for months and palm branches have been coming off. They are great about getting them picked up fairly quick. I Appreciate what they do!

Yes, the dead and hanging palms are an eyesore.
Yes, they provide habitat for a lot of birds and critters (Squirrels, etc.). Yes, they are healthier for the tree. Yes, you still need a bucket truck to trim them, especially as they grow taller. Even one "layer" of beard 30 feet up needs a bucket truck. Yes, they go up like a fuse when caught on fire. They are like flaming torches. To me, having spent decades in So Cal, they look like ugly weeds that present a huge fire hazard. They are like big dead dandelions on the landscape. I was 5 years old when the "charm" of exotic and sunny paradises filled with palm trees ended and the "charm" of big, 20 to 80 foot weeds began. Some people love 'em, some hate 'em, and some don't care at all. I'm in between not caring at all and hating them.

So sad to see someone complain about fallen branches when so many people have lost this homes & belongs, over 2M without power, and probably many lives lost. The Villages is certainly not perfect, but we are all better off than so many others.
