While it certainly may be annoying what is "suspicious" about it? Are they fake trees made of plastic? Did they dig it up from your neighbor's back yard and try to sell it to you? Are they casing your home using the "Palm Scam"?? No different than the roofers, lawn people etc soliciting.

"Suspicious" is a suggesting a law might be about to be broken (other than not having a permit if that is really required). Just don't answer the door, and if one chooses to buy one it's no different from buying anything from an unknown party like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist etc. Simply "buyer beware."

Palm tree guys, you can buy or not, never hostile. Next to show up are The water guys and the fake welcome wagon people who are annoying, and have that “never take No for an answer”.

Tried for YEARS, nothing you can do. From "tree trimmers" , to "free roof" people , lawn mowers, frozen meat sellers, etc. etc. At least 4 a week, sometimes 2-3 in a DAY. Public streets, public community, "gates" are looks/selling point only, so give the illusion of a "private" community, so, as many door to door people as care to can canvas as much as they desire. As for "unsavory looking" ? Pretty qualitative, doubt police would even consider such a qualitative call legitimate...LOL ! If you're new, wish I could tell you it will get better, believe me, it will not ! Sorry.

They sure don't do much ! Our neighborhood is averaging 3 "free roof" people per house per week now. Also, neighbor called about aggressive guy who seemed to have legitimate need to make some money, kept lowing the cost and trying to talk her into having him take some old bushes out. She kept telling him "no", but he keep her talking and she called the community watch. They said they have NO legal power, but she should call police IF he actually threatened her (which he did not) ! Adult children of our very close friends live in an ACTUAL private community near Orlando. NO ONE is allowed to solicit, and, to get into the gate the RESIDENT must ok it (such as if they want a plumber or repair man to come).

Exactly ! What would they do ? Neighbors have tried for years, and years, not much you can do. "NO SOLICITING" is a "sign", a SIGN, like "no littering in this park"....LOL, LOL, LOL !
