My wife and I were called and told to get to the Vet ASAP as our beloved fur baby was slipping fast and though we did drive with some urgency we didn't take any chances. When we went inside we saw her laying alone on the metal table gone, we were told we missed saying goodbye by less than 3 minutes.. Just 5mph faster and she wouldn't have passed without her family there and it hurts me bad to this day. I for one respect your judgement, though motoring 100mph down Morse flashing your brights is one thing I choose to believe you were doing what you felt was necessary in the moment.
The biggest mistake was not posting it, it was the way the OP was driving that was the biggest mistake. And that 5 mph faster you talk about could cause an accident. I am definitely an animal lover, but I would be careful not to endanger the lives of anyone.

Huh?

If OP had caused an accident with the injured dog in the car, it would have been much worse for the dog and everyone else than the normal time it takes to safely drive to the vet.

Please don't assume that someone is just being an AH. Sometimes there are very legitimate reasons for trying to get someplace quickly. We can't know what is going on with someone else.
Yes, there are idiots here that will go fast just because they can, but realize that they will always be an AH.....you can get on with your life and just be happy that you are not them! Karma is alive and well, I have seen it happen more times than not.

By staying in the fast lane it is you that makes it even worse. Now you're forcing someone into the slower traffic lane... where people are expected to be in.
Once again, if you aren't passing or getting ready to turn left, get out of that lane. And seriously, 5 mph over the posted speed limit is not a hazard to anyone. Police allow a 10% variance before handing out a ticket. So, if you're in a 50, 55 isn't going to get you a ticket. And I doubt if your speedo is accurate enough to tell the difference between 4.5 and 5. Meaning 4.5 mph over in a 45 mph zone isn't going to get you a ticket either. If you were a hazard at such a minimum over don't you think they'd be writing you up?

But what if you are in the 50 going 60? If you are speeding to get somewhere are you really paying attention to this? Point here is the OP was driving recklessly.

An AH? No. Taking foolish risks? Most definitely.

I drive fast. I’ve taken several defensive driving courses. Once upon a time, I had my NASCAR license. Never would I consider driving with flashers going or flashing high beams. Just makes other drivers angry and can blind them.

A few years ago, my grandson was airlifted to Palmer Children’s Hospital after an automobile accident. No one could tell us what his actual condition was. To say that I drove to Orlando at a high rate of speed would be putting it mildly (made it to the hospital in 37 minutes). Where traffic was light, I picked my lanes and floored it. Where traffic was heavy, I changed lanes when possible but I never cut anyone off, I never tailgated, I didn’t flash lights or honk my horn. The point is there are times when we feel there is a need for speed (rightly or wrongly) but even then you need to be careful and not terrorize other drivers.

I have never seen so many 'entitled' people as I have seen here. They're all in a big hurry, they think they are much more important than others, they have zero amount of respect for anyone else. Too many AH's around here... so sorry to say!

You should of just drove like about 70% on the road= speeding, weaving in and out of lanes, not using blinkers, tailgating, passing then swerving back in the right lane and slamming on your breaks cutoff the car you just passed to turn right. Normal day anywhere in USA! Remember it's only against the law if LAW Enforcement catches you. What all the AHs around you think is pure opinion!!!

Not against law to be in left lane, it is against the law to impede traffic in the left lane reguardless of speed, so if no one is behind you, you can drive in the left lane all the way to Canada.

I agree there are a lot of bad drivers everywhere, but I just don’t see where your guessimate of 70% is very accurate.
And even though I have had defensive driving training I must admit to making a poor driving judgement and action on occasion!
Usualy either haste or emotion overules and negates good judgement!

Good way to lose everything you worked for,by injuring/killing someone.
Just my 2 cents.

With me there is no reason to assume. I am as described and I know it.

I'm glad your pet is OK, and I'm sorry you got such negative reactions on here. I never read anywhere that you were driving "100" miles per hour, or even recklessly, for that matter. It's so easy for someone not in the middle of their own emergency to sit back and judge you. I once had a friend in my car who almost lost a few fingers to a saw installing tile. I drove fast, flashers on, and beeped when I had to on the way to the Emergency room. I also took no for an answer when the nurse told me to fill out a card and sit down. My friend now has his fingers and full use of his hand. I did not endanger anyone's life and was still driving safely. Also, I dare anyone out there to say they NEVER drove over the speed limit! Poppycock! You'll learn that this is not the right place to just vent. If you say blue somebody will come on here and say teal. Glad your pup is well.
