Fist of all No music played for others to hear is not "My way" it's the rule, and second I didn't get my way, I let the pool bully get his way and listened to X-Mas songs for an hour while getting much needed Vit D on my skin.

You've got to be kidding!!! Wow. I pay to be here just like you do. My 6 months is probably more expensive than your yearly fees. Rules apply to everybody, or are you one of those who feel privileged and poopoos on everybody that doesn't look like you, or buy in to the same lodging as you.

Funkman, you are correct the op (La lamy) only noted she looked up the rules but did not specify much detail. I have observed many of her other posts over time that have been based on truth, so I trust La lamy's posts implicitly. But I too share your hunger for more details,
Please refer to my original post of "Pool Etiquette" to find the sources of the rule which I deemed valid. But I'm always open for more clarification.

OP, did you find the official list of rules?

I'm trying to get some definitive answers here and would like to take a look at them, if possible, before bringing my idea to the CDD.

Thank you

Some people ''just don't get it" and have to be told and penalized in a way that they can understand. It's your pool---enjoy it.
I know the guy that brings the music to that pool. He is part of the large group of regulars that I mentioned earlier and they all enjoy the music that he brings. He is a great guy and as has been noted, he agreed to lower the volume.

They also sometimes bring food and adult beverages and everyone seems to have a great time.

So a group of people that go to this pool almost on a daily basis when the weather is appropriate have a good time and enjoy music should change everything because one person who's never been there before doesn't like it?

There may be a rule about this. That doesn't seem to have been determined. And although I am in favor of enforcing rules and changing them when a majority wants to, I am also in favor of common sense.

While I sympathize with the OP, I don't know I believe that she should have the right to ruin everyone else's good time. Was the music really all that offensive that she had to make a big deal about it? I think that most of us would have simply laid there and relaxed.

Since it has been our family's pleasure to meet you in person, this post is another on the list of reasons why we like you. Your kindness and your common sense as well as your sharing of music to others is part of who you are.

If you would read back some of the disgusting things that happen in and around the pools you will realize that loud music is trivial in comparison and you most likely would not want to go back to any of the pools.
And it DEPENDS on what music is playing too! Thatโ€™s where the problem comes into.

The problem is too many rules and just not enough common courtesy.

I love how this post says "clique" without saying the word.

If ONE person states publically that they think the music is too loud, then there are probably about 5 that feel it is too loud, but don't want to say anything for fear of being BULLIED. And besides - one person being offended is ONE person too many!

Rules were needed at a National level to avoid hospital overcrowding. Rules at a pool level are followed or not - and argued about depending on the modeling from the National level. If we have anarchy at the local swimming pool, how do you think that will filter up in the future? Attitudes permeate throughout ALL of society. it can be seen even in the cooperation at the local pool.

It is a public pool and people should not be forced to hear music they do not care for played at a level that drowns everything else out..
