Are there actual rules for bringing and playing music at the pools?

If it's just a question of the music being too loud? Does it only apply to music brought in from outside? Can the 'piped in' music be changed by those at the pools or is it controlled remotely?

I've been toying with the idea of trying to put together pool 'listening parties' of various shows/artists, so any help with these questions would be appreciated.

From what I've been able to dig up for actual rules, there's a lot of unanswered questions and I'd like to have my ducks in a row before bringing it up to those who would ultimately have the final word.

Thanks in advance for any assistance
There is a rule that you cannot have organized events such as your listening party or exercise groups, etc. at the adult pools. There is also a rule to shower before entering the pool, how many times has anyone seen that happen? In the online rules regarding the adult pools as well as all other pools there is nothing regarding music or radios posted.

That sounds like a dirty deed done dirt cheap.

That's a surprise, I've seen a group of exercisers on a regular basis at one of the pools I frequent, it's certainly a planned and organized event.

I wonder if they'd give me a hard time if I showed up and started blasting the boombox.

(and no, I wouldn't actually do that)

So now we know there is a rule being broken for sure that you have witnessed along with the shower rule. However unless someone digs up a regulation about radios that violation does not exist, not saying it's the right thing to do but there appears to be no rule against it.

Or that it's time to crank up the music and party.

No reason it has to be a negative thing

The only signal would be that one can't assume everyone at the pool wants to hear your personal music, whether it's Christmas carols, big band, Frank Sinatra or Black Sabbath. If your music can only be heard from a few feet away, that's fine, but I think the OP was lamenting that the music can be heard all around the pool. If I blasted Tool while the other person was blasting Christmas carols, it would send an unmistakable signal, in my opinion, that one person being in charge of music for the whole pool area is probably not a good idea.

Misogyny? Where did that come from? I'm a lot of things, but misogynist is not one of them. And neither are those bands, if that's what you meant.

I thought the pools pipe in WVLG anyway, isn't that the case?

Do we have too much time on our hands? If this constitutes the sum total of the woes of the Village People, then we're in pretty good shape.

You never know if those 29 are really enjoying it though. Unless it’s the Mop Tops, it’s very unlikely.

So, I drove to Southside Pool an hour ago to read the actual rule sign. Turns out, "no noise" is not among the rules posted. Oddly enough, "don't swallow the pool water" is an actual rule. Personally I think their priorities are a bit off - if someone needs to be ORDERED not to swallow pool water, there's probably a much more serious problem going on.

Regardless, the OP did the right thing by ASKING the person with the radio to turn it down. The guy with the radio did the CONSIDERATE thing, and complied. The guy in the pool was a jerk, full stop.

On the way out, did you notice the large plant that blocks the driver's view of oncoming traffic? One of my personal pet peeves. It forces a turning car to go out into the middle of the street.

Misogyny - just a unique word that gets people curious and thinking. Ha, made you think. Also, The thread starter is a woman and someone suggested that someone blast some group (AC/DC ?) to drown her out or drive her away. Misogyny seemed appropriate, maybe unconscious? I am open to other opinions.

Hey, that’s not a bad idea. Some people like that stuff. Add in a little Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins (hubby chose for our wedding day), and if you want get people to leave put “Baby Shark” on a loop.

Nope. If you have very young children or grandchildren, this will have driven you crazy in its heyday: Baby Shark, featuring Luis Fonsi | Baby Shark Song | Pinkfong Songs for Children - YouTube
