Of course signs rule, but notice controversy when “lappers” co-mingle with “Lilly pads (stay in one place in pool”, some suggest going to a sports pool, oops, which is followed by dead silence, personally, unless pool is “loaded” we should be able to accommodate, what say you?

I probably would not try to do laps in a neighborhood pool if it were busy. But some level of actual swimming seems reasonable. Just standing in one spot is boring.
Personally, I really like having my own pool. |

Got to love the just had my hair done standing in the middle of the family pool yelling at the families to keep your kids away. I don’t want my hair to get wet.
![]() Then the old guy giving quarters to the young kids to jump in the pool.

I swim laps in the neighborhood pool and the country-club pool. I just swim around the clusters of people standing (or bobbing) in one place. It's probably the best idea anyway, to do that. People who stand in one place for an hour - are DEFINITELY peeing in the pool. So it's best to just give them their space.

The term "swimming pool" is, in most cases a misnomer. While some pools can accommodate a swimmer, their purpose is relaxation rather than exercise. The sports pools are, sadly, the only pools where swimmers can actually swim for sport or exercise. And they are certainly NOT deep enough for real water swimming, water polo or any water sport tha actually requires one to know how to swim. Sadly the sports pool get overrun by nonswimmers, walkers, water aerobics, water volleyball, and others who just want to play in the water because it's cool and they can splash. Those of us who would like to REALLY swim are pushed to the fringes or out altogether.

I've been swimming laps in my neighborhood pool very early before anyone else wants to use it. Then Parks and Recreation flipped a switch on Sept 1st and all the pools are too cold. Which forces me into the crowded and noisy Sports Pools later in the day...they are not close by and I dont need to be denied access because of non-exercisers taking up space...
